Weird time to watch this weird movie. There was a sparse sprinkling of laughs, but it felt reigned in and stunted. Could have done with a lot more John Candy adlibs.
It's the final installment of the Stepfather series and we're out of the 80s and into the frou frou early nineties.
Our fave family man is back with a new name, a new face and a new job which puts a shedful of gardening tools at his murderous disposal.
New stepson Andy is a (neon) wheelchair using tween who's best friend is his geriatric priest. Those two are in constant amusing cahoots with one another - what a duo!

God I hated this. It's not the holiday slasher the trailer makes it out to be. It's a rom-com parody with an extremely crap slasher parody subplot. You get caught up in the thrilling whirlpool of Sally and her bohemian lifestyle. In the periphery of all the sumptuous seediness and freedom you catch chilling glimpses of fascism gnashing it's teeth, but carry on regardless. By the end you are left utterly cold and awash with dread. Liza sparkles - initially with effervescent optimism; ultimately with stubborn hedonism, in the darkness of this romping masterpiece.
It's a perfect NYE watch for those of us that are accustomed to a bit of good ol' existential crisis.
