Killing Them Softly 2012
For a while this was a 3.5 for me but in the last 45 minutes it grinds to a halt and really takes too much time meandering around for an hour and thirty seven minute movie. I like Dominik’s point but he sometimes strays too far away from it such that he has to put a large button on it with a speech from Pitt at the end. McNairy was the stand out for me

So…uh…what? How is this the most nominated movie. Audiard set out the make a Mexican trans musical and ended up half assing all of it. The music is terrible and it really misunderstands anything about how musicals work. The writing is horrid and the acting just as bad. Kellie pointed out it looked like they wrote the songs in English first and I really do think that’s why they sound so bad

Kubo and the Two Strings 2016
A wonderful fairy tale for the modern age. In telling a story about the power of memories and stories and how they perpetuate love and compassion in the world. It's gorgeously animated and can be quite emotional. Yu know its a great animated movie when both kids and adults can enjoy it on different levels while also both learning some great lessons.
