  It was shot well enough, good sound design. i thought Maika Monroe did a fine job. Nic Cage’s facial prosthetic was cool.
  So why was it so bogus? It’s literally like a paranormal parody of Silence of the Lambs, except we already have that and its called X-Files.
  It presents itself like its a deep dark rabbit hole but it doesnt deliver.

  If you're in the mood for a geeky sci-fi 80's take on virtual reality and thought control, this one is a good pick. You get to see Christopher Walken freak out, you get to see Louise Fletcher go into fits of rage. Interestingly, this movie was released 2yrs after Natalie Wood died.
  I think it's more like a 2.5 star, but the poorly rendered psychedelic CG visuals, the constant swapping of film gauges (eat your heart out oppenheimer) and an overall plastic-like laboratory aesthetic soothed my soul.
