    This documentary captures a rough overview of North Korean history from the lead-up to the Korean War through about 2018. I especially loved the scenes of an older woman performing traditional Korean dances. And I appreciated the refresher on major powers' involvement in Korean governance. 

    Unfortunately, the footage actually shot in North Korea feels less vivid and relatable than footage shot in South Korea or the United States. The filmmaker was obviously pushing against state-imposed limits to capture the in-country…
