    On the day I watched this, news reports announced that government troops had retaken Khartoum from rebel fighters. The United Nations says that the latest Sudanese civil war has left tens of thousands dead and more than 12 million displaced from their homes.

    This sluggishly paced documentary was not on my wavelength. Early scenes showing family photographs placed among the local fauna were intended to be poetic, but sometimes these and other scenes just bored me. Also, I prefer works that do not blur the boundaries between fact and fiction. This movie contains some staged bits.
