    Almost. Years ago my computer suddenly stopped working and lost everything on it. Fortunately a relatively recent backup still existed bc of my family, a recent parts switch, and dumb luck. But last year a friend of mine got hacked and lost close to everything he had done creatively in the last 17-ish years. Art. Novels in progress. Entire conlangs. DnD character Sheets. Music he had made. All gone. He never backed any of it up. Few months later I started this habit (or ritual, almost) of drawing a reminder beast any time I would make a full complete backup. In hopes that seeing these things might remind others and myself. (Another factor here is that I am an animator and some of the stuff on my computer took literal years to make. And the film university I go to urges us to take this stuff seriously, too.)

    OH MY GOD YESSSS THANK YOUUUU I WAS LOOKING FOR AGES U SAVED ME. it’s really so brutal like this is pretty much 100% nick taking the photo bc as per albert’s words in mmitb their early hotel rooming arrangements were julian & albert, fab & nick, and nikolai with literally whoever. can you imagine the horrible disgusting domesticity. the first thing you see in the morning and the last thing you see at night. ungraceful sleep and bleary morning bedhead. learning the rhythms of their daily routines. fab’s smile is fucking me up so bad

    i think fabnick are also fucked up in their own ways but theyre just generally sweeter than casamond are. no one is winning the toxic assholes finding love competition if casamond are there

    anon i swear there is a photo of fab in a hotel bed that is so sweet im convinced nick took it but i can’t find it someone please help me out..anyway yes the intimacy of allowing yourself to be seen and preserved so candidly in conjunction w fab’s self consciousness (his thing about not liking mirrors)…….im going to print out this photo and put it on my wall bc the love in it knocks me dead every time. something about finding someone lovely enough to photograph even in their most mundane unguarded moments. honourable mention for the second and third ones (technically the third one is an unconfirmed photographer but..come on)

    this reminds me that in my strokes college au a big theme is fab and nick learning to love themselves via each other’s artworks helping them see themselves w the same love the other does..fab sketching nick at random times and sculpting his features with such love and care down to the jutting angles nick’s never thought much about. nick photographing fab in mundane moments and being one of the few that can capture him so still and unguarded. sigh

    thinking about your modeling au... nick would definitely be the model who would do a shirtless shoot every chance he gets, especially if we're talking about female nick, that girl wants to show off her implants!

    omg wait ur a genius. in the au nick is still a guy but hes known for his androgyny and he models both male and female collections. girl nick getting her triple d implants is killing me omg she makes no secret about it either

  • Can’t help but think of the @argumate thread that strong borders is inherently xenophobic. It’s not, politely turn away criminals and drug runners at the border. It’s byzantine, arbitrary, cruel, and designed to be maximally financially exploitive. Designed to create that underclass who can’t dream of anything better because it’ll expose them to torture.

  • One thing I didn't know is that if you say, "Okay, I'll buy a plane ticket home with my own money, when do I go"

    They say, "No, we have to keep you in America and torture you."

    Lord knows what the guards tell themselves at these places, but from what I can tell the general Republican response is a combination of "That's not true, we're actually really nice." and "If you cross the border illegally you knew we were going to do this to you so it's your fault, not ours.

  • Something I didn't absorb on my first reading is how many of these people were detained because their current visa was fine, but their previous visa had an issue. Or were detained while attempting to leave the country. Or attempting to get a visa to get into the country. Or applying for asylum.

    And for this they are tortured for weeks or months at a time.

    Not even deported! Even the ones who are willing to spend their own money on a ticket out of the country are instead imprisoned here, indefinitely, because the government will pay some contractor to torture them. Can't afford social security or Medicaid but we always have enough money to torture people for no reason.

    Its obvious that they are not for any intended purpose they are used solely as political tools of intimidation meant to keep the white rich Anglo Saxon status quo.

    ICE must be abolished. It serves no purpose. I don't care what you think it does, IT IS FASCIST TO IMPRISON PEOPLE FOR IMPROPER PAPERWORK.

    THEY CAN LIE AND DETAIN ANYONE. WE ARE IN TROUBLE HERE.

    And also? Question the authorities. Demand to see their badges. Ask questions. Hell, scream for help and say you're being kidnapped. Resist. One guy comes to "detain" her? Force them to bring more than one.
