This research presents the results obtained on how cultural heritage is present and how it is used in the teaching of history and didactics of the social sciences in higher education. The specific objectives have been: to understand the perception of history and didactics of social sciences lecturers on the value of cultural heritage in the teaching and learning of history, as well as in the development of historical thinking; to identify the existence of a didactic use of cultural heritage, that is, its presence among the methods, strategies and didactic resources used in the subjects of history and didactics of the social sciences; to determine the participation of lecturers in research and innovation projects related to the didactics or interpretation of cultural heritage; to verify the relationship and/or collaboration between lecturers and heritage institutions with cultural heritage, especially in the case of museums; and to detect potential problems that may have limited the use of cultural heritage in the classroom, as well as the needs identified by lecturers when using it.
The research has been divided in the following sections: title, cover, declaration of originality, abstract, index, justification, theoretical framework and state of the art, objectives, methodology (method, sample, techniques and instruments, data collection procedure and data analysis), results and discussion, conclusions, references and annexes. The methodology used was quantitative with a descriptive non-experimental quantitative method. The participants in the study were 26 lecturers from three departments of the University of Murcia and the research instrument used was a questionnaire. Finally, with regard to the results obtained, it can be concluded that cultural heritage is part of the teaching of history in the selected studies. It is present quite frequently in the contents, generally associated with an active methodology, although activities such as those related to visits to heritage institutions are not fully exploited. Its use sometimes depends on the lecturers’ links to the professional field of heritage or to their training in heritage education or heritage interpretation. Besides, a series of obstacles and needs have been detected which hinder its integration inside and outside the classroom.

This study aims to improve students’ motivation to learn about the dynamics of democracy in Indonesia in class XI MIA 7 SMA Negeri 1 Yogyakarta. In improving students’ motivation, it is necessary to apply an appropriate learning approach model. Class room Action Research as an approach of this research study. Data were collected through four techniques. They are: In-depth interviews (in-depth interviews), Participant observation (participant observation), a questionnaire or questionnaires, study the documentation that comes from non-human. Results of action research shows that there is a positive influence and significant correlation between students’ motivation and approach model Team Games Tournament. This study generally aimed conduct an experimental investigation method on the use of Documented Problem-Solving Strategy in teaching Science. The experimental investigation was used to determine the effectiveness of Documented Problem-Solving Strategy (DPSS) in teaching Science 9, which mainly focused on Physics topics. Purposive sampling was used by the researcher to focus on particular characteristics of the students to be observed in the actual implementation of the study which can be helpful in answering research questions since the researcher aimed to improve academic performance of Grade 9 students and help the students to increase their interest towards learning Science concepts specifically problem solving in Physics. The participants of this study were by handled by the researcher. The two groups were exposed in the Documented Problem-Solving Strategy (DPSS) and the other group was exposed in the Non-Documented Problem-Solving Strategy (Non-DPSS). The two groups belong to the heterogeneous section with 30 students each. The researcher implemented same topics and competencies for both groups as reflected in the K-12 curriculum guide. The learning plans designed by the researcher for the DPSS Group was aligned from Daily Lesson Plan prescribed by the Department of Education with the integration of DPSS. After the experimental period, both groups were given a 40-item posttest which was divided evenly based on the Bloom's Taxonomy cognitive skills. The scores of all respondents were used to ensure evenness between two groups. The mean, standard deviation, independent and paired t-Test were utilized as statistical tools in the study. The SPSS software was also utilized to validate the correctness of data vital for the research. From the results of the statistical treatment employed from the pretest and posttest performance of Non-DPSS and DPSS groups, it was revealed that the utilization of DPSS contributed a significant change in the performance of students in learning Physics concepts as noted by the test of significance of the posttest performance of both groups in which the computed t-value of 3.505 was higher compared to the tabular t-value 2.000. Furthermore, t-Test of the learning gains of both groups showed that the computed t-value of 18.452 was higher compared to the tabular t-value 2.000, respectively. Thus, the use of Documented Problem-Solving Strategy as a teaching approach was effective and contributes to the improvement of academic achievement and problem-solving performance of the students in Science.

Translation as a method of language teaching is still a subject under research and continues to be one of the most frequently discussed topics among teachers, linguists and methodologists. This research is intended to investigate the teaching of reading comprehension by using translation as a learning method and to evaluate if translation integrated into learning activities in the teaching of reading comprehension could be an effective pedagogical tool to enhance students' reading comprehension. This study is of a qualitative and descriptive nature. It uses three techniques for collecting data. observation and field notes, questionnaire and in-depth interviewing. It was undertaken in English classes at Sahid Tourism Institute of Suiakarta from July to December 2014. There were 58 undergraduate students of semester seven and two English lecturers as research subjects. Through translation as a learning method, students were given tasks to comprehend tourism texts taken frotn tourism magazines, tourism books and online tourism passages. The research findings show that (1) when integrated into daily classroom activities translation can help students develop and improve grammar, vocabulary and reading skills; (2) translation in the reading comprehension classes enhances better understanding of smictures of the two languages and strengthen students’ translation skills; (3) translation should not be overused in the teaching of reading comprehension; (4) students are motivated to communicate both ways during translation activities: into and from the English language; and (5) translation is an effective tool in the teaching of reading comprehension and can be used in college classrooms to improve knowledge in English. The findings imply that it is important not only to integrate translation as a learning method into the teaching of reading comprehension at the right time but also with the right students.
