Bu kitap; duygusal ve davranışsal bozukluklara sahip öğrenciler hakkında bilgi sahibi olmak isteyen sınıf öğretmenleri, özel eğitim öğretmenleri ve alanda çalışan uzmanlar için hazırlanmış giriş niteliğinde bir uygulama kitabıdır. Her bir bozukluğun nedeni, tanımlanması, güncel araştırmalar ışığında verilmeye çalışılmış ve okul ortamındaki pratik uygulamalarla da anlatım zenginleştirilmiştir. Bunlara ek olarak belirli bir bozukluğun tüm yönlerine ilişkin temel yaklaşımla birlikte bilimsel olarak geliştirilmiş müdahele yöntemleri de verilmeye çalışılmıştır.

This study aims to analyze the influence of external integration and internal integration to product innovation and competitive advantage. The research was conducted on a sample of 180 manager small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in East Java clothing taken with stratified cluster sampling technique. Selection of sample areas based on areas that have the potential development of the industry. Data collection was done by using questionnaire that has been tested for its validity and reliability. Data analysis used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis with help of AMOS version 21 program. Based on the analysis of SEM, it was found that the first, external integration influence on product innovation SMEs and affect the competitive advantage of SMEs. Taikant daugiakriterinius metodus labai svarbu nustatyti kriterijų (rodiklių) svorius. Svorių skaičiavimo pagrindą sudaro ekspertų vertinimai. Rezultatus galima taikyti praktikoje, jei nustatytas pakankamas ekspertų nuomonių suderinamumo lygis. Jį nustato konkordancijos koeficientas, skaičiuojamas lyginamų objektų rangavimo pagrindu. Straipsnyje nagrinėjama konkordancijos koeficiento taikymo galimybė, kai ekspertų vertinimai atlikti ne rangavimo būdu. Nustatyta, kad objektų suderinamumo lygis priklauso nuo ekspertų vertinimo metodo. Didžiausias suderinamumas gaunamas taikant tiesioginį rangavimo metodą. Vienodai įvertintų rodiklių, t. y. susietų rangų įtaka konkordancijos koeficiento reikšmei, taigi ir ekspertų suderinamumo lygiui paprastai nežymi ir nekeičia rezultato.

Globalization of capital and especially foreign direct investment (FDI) and trade has increased dramatically over the past decades. In developing economies; FDI has become the most stable and largest component of capital flows. This study examines the interaction between FDI, trade openness and economic growth with a focus on Asian FDI, trade and 13 West African countries for the period 1980-2015. The results from weighted Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS) show that both FDI and trade significantly contribute to economic growth. The study also indicates that a unidirectional causality runs from FDI to economic growth indicating FDI-growth-led hypothesis while a bidirectional causality is detected between trade and economic growth validating feedback-effect. Increasing FDI could also promote trade by opening and expanding market opportunities.

Ünlü eğitim psikoloğu Robert Slavin'in Eğitim Psikolojisi kitabının onuncu baskısı, kuramı uygulamaya aktarma konusunda önemli bir eksikliği gidermekte ve öğretmenlerin sınıfta ihtiyaç duyabilecekleri alanlarda uygulayabilecekleri bilgileri içermektedir.

Uzmanlar, klinisyenler ve araştırmacılar, yeme bozukluklarının duygusal düzensizliklerden kaynaklandığı vakalarda Diyalektik Davranış Terapisinin etkin olacağı konusunda hemfikirdi. Alanda yapılan pek çok adaptasyon çalışması olmasına rağmen Debra Safer, Christy Telch ve Eunice Chen bunu deneysel bazda yapan ilk kişilerdir. Standart diyalektik davranış terapisinin, tıkanırcasına yeme bozukluğu ve blumia nervoza semptomlarını tedavi etme yollarının yapılandırılmış bir özetini sunan bu kitap ile alandaki ihtiyaca cevap vermişlerdir. Bu alanda çalışan klinik psikologların ve danışmanların mutlaka okuması gereken önemli bir kaynak olmakla birlikte bu alanda okuyan öğrenciler için de farklı bir bakış açısı kazandırmaktadır.
Dokuz bölümden oluşan bu kitapta tedavi kapsamlı olarak ele alınmıştır. Genel çerçevede, olumsuz duygularla başa çıkmanın daha uyumsal yollarını öğreten becerilerin kazanımı ile tıkanırcasına yeme ve boşaltmayı durdurma hedefine ulaşma yolu adım adım çizilmiştir. Blumia nervoza ve tıkanırcasına yeme bozukluğuna sahip insanların karılaştığı sorunlar ve mevcut tedavi yöntemleri ele alınarak okuyucuya genel bir bakış açısı kazandırılır. Standart terapinin detaylı bir şekilde tanıtımından sonra bunun adaptasyonunun neden gerekli olduğu, adapte etmenin mantığı mevcut kanıtlar ile sunulur. Daha sonra, tedavi öncesi ve başlangıç oturumlarından tedaviyi sonlandırmaya kadar olan süreç aşama aşama ele alınır. Nüksetmeyi önleme kısmına değinilir. Son olarak kapsamlı vaka örnekleri ile anlatılanların sağlam temeller üzerine oturması sağlanır.
Amacına uygun şekilde düzenlen bu kitap, diyalektik davranış terapisi adapte edilirken belirli sınırlar çizmek yerine okuyucuya geliştirilebilir bir zemin hazırlar. Bu yönüyle tedaviyi uygulamaya ve geliştirmeye teşvik eder. Açıklayıcı vaka örnekleri ve kanıtlar ile tedaviyi tüm ayrıntılarıyla sunarak farklı alanlardan okuyuculara hitap eden bu titiz çalışma özellikle alandaki uzmanlara klinik psikologlara, danışmanlara ve araştırmacılar için bir rehber niteliğinde olacak niteliktedir.

One way of combating Nigeria’s various daunting developmental challenges is to make effective use of technologies. However, it has to done in a way that takes into account local realities. Many developing countries like Nigeria are buying into technologies that are in-appropriate for their needs because another country or a Tran’s national company sells them to them. In other words, the developing countries must liberate themselves from “over-dependence” on the developed countries for the technologies that can improve their lives. This paper examines the current challenges of over-dependence on “foreign or imported technology” and further makes case for the development of local/indigenous practices, knowledge and technologies in solving our day-to-day problems thereby apart from improving the quality of our lives boosts our “technical prowess”.

This Impact Report identifies and summarises the diverse impacts, resulting from the £500m of UK funding of Science and Technology in 2013, using numerous quantitative metrics and short case study extracts.  It shows how the varied impacts of a national science and technology organization and its many funded programmes can be annually identified, captured, tracked, and summarised in a public document.

The report was produced for, and by, the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) -  the UK Research Council responsible for funding: (1) all UK astronomy, particle and nuclear physics research, (2) related UK science and technology facilities (e.g. as Harwell and Daresbury), (3) the UK contribution to international science (e.g. CERN, international telescopes and space missions), (4) innovation and business spin-off programmes, and (5) UK public engagement activities.

The Report was co-researched and co-authored by the STFC Impact Team, including myself while Impact Evaluation Manager in 2013, with Dr. Claire Dougan-McCallie (lead author/Head of Impact) and Jenny Beard, with additional input from senior managers, and many data and case study contributions from other key managers across STFC.

Varied key impacts are identified and reported including:

• Research amongst the best (by citation impact) in astronomy, nuclear and particle physics.
• Supported research of 226 Principal Investigators in 70 universities, led to 1,100 peer-reviewed papers in 2012.
• Facilities (the Diamond Light Source, ISIS and CLF) were used in 2012/13 by over 4,200 unique users , in over 2,400 experiments, producing over 1,000 papers in peer-reviewed journals.

• Technology from CERN benefited the UK economy by over £100 billion every year.
• Funding the development of the UK’s space, internet and computer animation industries, returned over £500 billion to the UK economy per annum.
• Funded Innovation Campuses hosted over 230 enterprises and supported over 5,000 jobs.
• UK industry won £43 million in contracts from the international subscriptions funded, and had accumulated a total of £150 million since 2005.

• Funded research inspired future generations to study STEM subjects, attracting 90% of UK undergraduates to study physics, funded 782 PhD students  and 16,800 student training days.
• Between 2009 to 2012 public engagement programmes engaged people on 58 million occasions, with 2 million people engaged in face-to-face activities in 2013 alone.

Anlaşmazlıkları nasıl yöneteceğimiz üzerine odaklandığımızda, karşımıza en temel yaklaşım ve paradigma olan "dönüşümsel arabuluculuk" çıkmaktadır.Dönüşümsel arabuluculuğun alanyazına en önemli katkısı, anlaşmazlık çözüm sürecinin toplumsal değerlerden ve kültürden bağımsız olmadığı,ideolojimizin ve inanç tarzımızın anlaşmazlıklara ilişkin değerlendirmelerimizi, tutumlarımızı ve anlaşmazlıklarımızı ele alış tarzımızı etkilediği düşüncesidir. Yine, dönüşümsel arabuluculuğun en ayırt edici özelliği, anlaşmazlıkları yönetim sürecinin, kişileri dönüştürebileceğine, geliştirebileceğine ve güçlendirebileceğine yönelik yapıcı ve olumlu duruşudur.

Bush ve P. Folger tarafından geliştirilen "dönüşümsel arabuluculuk modeli" ülkemizde, her sene mahkemelere taşınan yüz binlerce anlaşmazlığı, çekişmeyi ve ayrışmayı yüz yüze müzakere ederek yapıcı ve barışçıl olarak çözme kapasitesini güçlendirmek için bir fırsat ve araç olacaktır. Cezalandırıcı adalet anlayışından, onarıcı adalet anlayışına dönme çabalarına ışık tutacaktır.

Bu eser,içerdiği alternatif paradigma çerçevesinde hukuk sistemimize yeni giren arabuluculuk modelinin doğru ve amacına uygun kullanılması için de referans olacak anlamlı ve önemli bir eserdir. Buna ek olarak, anlaşmazlık çözümü üzerine çalışan hukukçulara, psikologlara, psikolojik danışmanlara, eğitimcilere, psikiyatristlere ve sosyal çalışmacılara hem kurumsal anlamda hem de somut anlaşmazlıkların ve çatışmaların yapıcı ve barışcıl yönetimi konusunda yol gösterecek temel bir başvuru kaynağı olacaktır.

Tüm yaşamımız duygu ve düşüncelerimiz tarafından yönetilmektedir. Çoğumuz ağırlıkla gerçeğin farkına varmadan yaşadığımızdan düşünce becerilerimizi geliştirmeyi önemsemeyiz. Ancak düşünme, eğitim, psikoloji ve daha birçok alandaki bilim insanının üzerinde çalıştığı ve geliştirmeyi hedefledikleri beceriler arasındandır. China presents us with a conundrum. How has a developing country with a spectacularly inefficient financial system, coupled with asset-destroying state-owned firms, managed to create a number of vibrant high-tech firms?

China's domestic financial system fails most private firms by neglecting to give them sufficient support to pursue technological upgrading, even while smothering state-favoured firms by providing them with too much support. Due to their foreign financing, multinational corporations suffer from neither insufficient funds nor soft budget constraints, but they are insufficiently committed to China's development. Hybrid firms that combine ethnic Chinese management and foreign financing are the hidden dragons driving China's technological development. They avoid the maladies of China's domestic financial system while remaining committed to enhancing China's domestic technological capabilities.

In sad contrast, China's domestic firms are technological paper tigers. State efforts to build local innovation clusters and create national champions have not managed to transform these firms into drivers of technological development.

These findings upend fundamental debates about China's political economy. Rather than a choice between state capitalism and building domestic market institutions, China has fostered state capitalism even while tolerating the importing of foreign market institutions. While the book's findings suggest that China's state and domestic market institutions are ineffective, the hybrids promise an alternative way to avoid the middle-income trap. By documenting how variation in China's institutional terrain impacts technological development, the book also provides much needed nuance to widespread yet mutually irreconcilable claims that China is either an emerging innovation power or a technological backwater.

Looking beyond China, hybrid-led development has implications for new alternative economic development models and new ways to conceptualize contemporary capitalism that go beyond current domestic institution-centric approaches.

A comparison of possible solutions for small scale (0.2 – 1MWe) waste-to-energy gasification-based industrial application is presented. A pilot scale bubbling fluidized bed air blown gasifier, having a capacity of 500 kWe, provided experimental data: the syngas complete composition as well as the characterization of the bed material and contaminants downstream of the cyclone and wet scrubber. Mass and energy balances and material and substance flow analyses have been drawn to assess and compare design solutions utilizing a packaging derived fuel (PDF) obtained as scrap by food industrial processes. The related environmental, energetic and economic performances have been estimated on the basis of the experimental data and manufacturer’s specifications. In the scale range analyzed, the best solution is that of a power gasification coupled with an internal combustion engine, which provides high reliability and high internal rate of return.

Game theory usually analyses decision-making processes in various fields. There are different methods of solving decision related problems. Game theory focuses on problem solution from one player's point of view, while game theory emphasizes its analysis in the interaction among many players. Much of game theory is concerned with finite, discrete games, which have a finite number of players, moves, events, outcomes, etc. Many researchers in different research fields' work applied the game theory in: construction engineering, management area. Dennis Gabor devised a new concept for optical imaging in 1947 that went by a variety of names over the following decade: holoscopy, wavefront reconstruction, interference microscopy, diffraction microscopy and Gaboroscopy. A well-connected and creative research engineer, Gabor worked actively to publicize and exploit his concept, but the scheme failed to capture the interest of many researchers. Gabor’s theory was repeatedly deemed unintuitive and baffling; the technique was appraised by his contemporaries to be of dubious practicality and, at best, constrained to a narrow branch of science. By the late 1950s, Gabor’s subject had been assessed by its handful of practitioners to be a white elephant. Nevertheless, the concept was later rehabilitated by the research of Emmett Leith and Juris Upatnieks at the University of Michigan, and Yury Denisyuk at the Vavilov Institute in Leningrad. What had been judged a failure was recast as a success: evaluations of Gabor’s work were transformed during the 1960s, when it was represented as the foundation on which to construct the new and distinctly different subject of holography, a re-evaluation that gained the Nobel Prize for Physics for Gabor alone in 1971. This paper focuses on the difficulties experienced in constructing a meaningful subject, a practical application and a viable technical community from Gabor’s ideas during the decade 1947-1957.

Engineering activities are based on the development of new Knowledge (Scientia), new 'made things' (Techné), and/or new ways of working and doing (Praxis). Scientia, Techné, and Praxis are three important dimensions of a comprehensive conception of Engineering as a whole. Engineering, as Scientia, is mostly developed in academia; as Techné, is practiced in industry generating technological innovations; and as Praxis, is carried out in technical and non-technical organizations, supporting managerial activities and technical procedures, via methodical and methodological design and implementation. This is why Engineering provides one of the most solid academic and professional substrata for bridging among universities, industries and governments.

"La ciencia y la tecnología han alcanzado en la sociedad moderna un grado de importancia tal que ningún programa de desarrollo social, económico o educativo puede pasar por alto este hecho. Basta considerar casi cualquier aspecto de la vida moderna, como la salud, la educación, las comunicaciones, etc., para percatarse del elevado grado de dependencia que la calidad de vida en la sociedad actual tiene con respecto al nivel de desarrollo científico- tecnológico. Consideraciones como las anteriores se encuentran en la base de todos los esfuerzos que se realizan en nuestro país para modernizar la educación y todo el aparato de ciencia y tecnología. Lo que hasta hace algunos años pudo quizá considerarse como afán gratuito de modernidad es, en la hora actual, necesidad manifiesta de sobré vivencia en un mundo complejo, de problemáticas globalizadas y enormemente competitivo.

Reflexionar sobre lo anterior nos hace recibir con beneplácito la aparición en español de esta obra, concebida y diseñada para quien desea realizar una propuesta de investigación y requiere fundamentarla en un protocolo elaborado con rigor lógico, coherencia interna y completo. Este texto representa el producto de varios años de esfuerzo continuado y muchos más de experiencias vividas, compartidas y recogidas por el autor. Está escrito con profundo conocimiento del tema y ha sido sometido a prueba en el aula, en numerosas tesis de grado dirigidas por el autor y en el campo mismo de la investigación.

La obra está dirigida principalmente a los investigadores noveles que necesitan formular una propuesta de investigación; también a aquellos que deben evaluarla y realizar su seguimiento y control. Pero aún el investigador maduro y experimentado puede beneficiarse de ella al encontrar un texto que formaliza y resume lo que muchas veces ha llevado a cabo de manera empírica 0 intuitiva.

El estilo de la presentación, dinámico y optimista, invita al lector a adoptar una actitud participativa y creadora. The linear programming technique for multidimensional analysis of preference, known as LINMAP is one of the existing well-known ideal seeking methods for multi attribute decision making problems. This method originally is proposed under crisp and deterministic circumstances. However, uncertainty is an indubitable property of decision making problems. In this paper, a new version of LINMAP-G is proposed where the decision maker's judgments are expressed as grey numbers. Like original LINMAP method, the grey ideal solution and attributes weight vector is determined and alternatives are ranked according to their weighted distance from determined ideal point. Application of the proposed method is illustrated in two numerical examples.

Unlike previous snapshot studies, this research traces ‘historical learning events’ to enable us to examine the evolution of roles and underpinning capabilities of intermediaries in an innovation system. By following this approach, the rationale, obstacles and lessons learned of intermediaries in performing their roles and building up required capabilities can be vividly illustrated. The National Food Institute (NFI) of Thailand was selected as the case study. As an intermediary organization, NFI has enhanced its capabilities step by step in analysing and disseminating information, training, testing policy development and consultancies through major ‘learning events’ that provide NFI with learning opportunities. As a result, over time it can perform its intermediary roles better by reducing ‘systemic failures’ in the Thai food industry’s
sectoral innovation system. Recently, however, due to the lack of an official mandate, continuous government budgetary support and organizational lock-in problems, NFI’s role has not evolved with the changes in strategies and capability needs of Thai food
exporters as these firms change from OEM to OBM manufacturers.

This study tries to be one of the components of the contemporary attempts to relocate the working class in the centre of the social analysis. In contrast with this attempt, the mainstream approach is in a struggle to exclude the working class from the social analysis. Today, the literature on industrial relations and sociology of labour shifted under the hegemony of the market conditions. Although they have deep-rooted and solid backgrounds, the concepts such as “worker”, “labourer”, “labour”, and “work” are losing their impact both on intellectual and political spheres. These concepts are replaced with a couple of amorphous terms such as “the member of quality circle”, “wage earner” and so on. Today, a series of policies are proposed and supported in the recent reports prepared by some institutions such as ILO, OECD, WB, and some academic environments. The mentioned policies can be stated as follows: “If it is for the benefit of employers, it is also for the benefit of workers”; “employers and workers are partners but not parties”; “the win+win principle must be considered for social welfare”. These policies have become the basic arguments of the working life as the components of a political agenda. Under the circumstances in which a series of ideas such as “social classes are outdated”, “the end of history has already come” are proposed, the theoretical and empirical researches regarding social classes attract less researcher’s attention day by day.
Less attraction to the research topics on the social class analysis is related to the concrete transformation of the capitalist mode of production, which is experienced in the 20th century. Under the conditions in which the welfare state distributes the economic and social rights relatively to the social base, although there were some efforts put by limited intellectual circles to make contributions in the literature on social classes, the results of these efforts did not create a significant impact on the concrete struggle sphere. Under the conditions provided by the welfare regime, the greatest illusion, which was experienced in sociology of work, politics and similar disciplines, is an understanding that spoiled the truth. According to this misconception, class polarization has expired, and the “enriched workers” have become the middle class of the society. Thus, both the explanatory approaches to social classes, and the ones, which turned their back to the analytic priority of the class struggle, could not comprehend the radical and comprehensive changes experienced since the 1980s. By creating the misguided perception that the so-called welfare conditions would be permanent, the post-modernist objections defended that the end of “the grand narratives have come", and “the structures must be deconstructed”. These objections contributed to the exclusion of the social class analysis both from intellectual and struggle environments. The class analysis was replaced with the Multitude of the “post” era. On the other hand, the climate of social thoughts started to transform significantly. Social classes regained importance in different aspects. Especially, post-2008 crisis period formed a basis for the rising interest in the social class analysis. Although the level of development and the ways of implementation vary across the regions and countries, there is a single socio-economic formation affecting everyone in the world. It means that the debate on immaterial labour, which will be at the centre of analyses throughout this study, will be considered within the context of the capitalist mode of production. Of course, this perspective will also take development and transformation of the capitalist mode of production into account. In other words, the debate on immaterial labour requires to consider the current characteristics of the capitalist mode of production. This is the only way one can answer the question of whether a certain section of labourers in the information and communication technologies sector (as a component of immaterial labour) would be a counter-power to the existence of the capitalist mode of production or not.
When this study was prepared, there was a debate drawing attention to the idea that we are on the verge of a great transformation in terms of production and labour relations. This debate is intensified today. There are some (especially among big companies and trade unions coming from core capitalist countries) assumptions about the impacts of digitalisation and robotisation on production processes, and the world of labour. The concept Industry 4.0 plays an important role on making this kind of assumptions. While we are trying to understand what immaterial labour is, we should also consider the transformation of the labour market, and the qualitative and quantitative transformations in the production processes, and the concept Industry 4.0. The “creative destruction” impact of the steam engine was experienced in the 19th century. Then, electrical-electronics based technologies became dominant in production processes in the 20th century, and the very first examples of digitalisation were displayed. Today, the effects of digitalization and robotisation should be considered in the transformation of labour relations and social struggles in the 21st century. Capitalism seeks to create the conditions in which it uses scientific and technical developments for its own benefit similar to what happened in its earlier stages.
Within the context of the abovementioned assessments, the short plan of the study will be as follows: The first part will focus on the conceptual framework of immaterial labour, and will give insights into the historical and theoretical roots of the concept. The second part will focus on what labour means in terms of the capitalist mode of production and will try to analyse immaterial labour within the context of the productive and unproductive labour debate, which has an important place in the literature on Marxism. The third part will focus on the position of immaterial labour in the working class, and the current debates on the working class. The fourth part will focus on the overall picture of the information and communication technologies sector, abbreviated as ICT/IT. In the same part, the sectoral distribution of production processes spread around the world will be discussed. The importance of the ICT sector and its interaction with other sectors will be discussed within the context of technical, geographical and social division of labour in the fourth part as well. The fifth and final part will focus on the working class capacity of the ICT sector labourers in Turkey, and this will also cover the findings of the case study conducted in this context. The detailed content of the chapters will be better understood throughout the reading process of this book.

This study suggests that the origins of the economics of technical change go back to many years before Schumpeter's contributions. The Scottish philosopher John Rae with his book Statement of Some New Principles on the Subject of Political Economy, issued in 1834, put forward the basis of the Economics of innovation individuating the nature, causes of technological innovations (e.g., steam engine) and effects of technological progress on economic growth of nations. Rae also discusses the evolution and role of vital technologies for the wealth and employment in Europe and North America. Overall, then, Rae's work is basic for the origin of the Economics of innovation, for defining the domain of this discipline and for explaining the effects of vital technologies in society. However, the conclusions of this study are tentative. There is need for much more detailed research into this research topic.

This paper reviewed the literature on ethics, ethical theories, ethical principles; as well as the implications of unethical practices in organizations. The study revealed that unethical business practices have devastating consequences on organizations; since they result in poor corporate image, financial losses; market failures and sometimes complete corporate collapse. It was further observed that corruption, bad leadership, poor corporate governance, conflict of interest, lack of accountability, inadequate CSR, abusive and intimating behaviors among others are common in most organizations. The paper concludes that it is beneficial and in the enlightened self -interest of organizations to adopt good ethical practices. The paper also recommends that managers’ should ensure that ethical standards are crafted in their business philosophy and strategic intents in order to build and maintain a good corporate image.

With the rise of “knowledge-based economy”, knowledge has become an important input in the productive process of enterprises and starts to perform a fundamental role on economic development. Knowledge from entrepreneurial and academic sources integrate to transform it in innovative products and processes. The following thesis aims to evaluate the efforts for technological capacitation of a big player worldwide in the sector of hermetic compressors for refrigeration, Embraco, for maintaining its competitiveness through generation of innovative capacitation. This research is based on a case study about Embraco and the data gathering based on interviews and questionnaires on Embraco and research laboratories at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, with which the firm keeps technological cooperation. This thesis is based on the CNPq’s database, in order to characterize the University-Enterprise interaction in the engineering area of the research and teaching institutions in Santa Catarina and, afterwards, at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. The results indicate that the interaction with university, within the scope of University-Enterprise studies, had important influences on the incorporation of technology into Embraco’s products and production processes, above all due to the interaction with the laboratories at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. From this interaction with research laboratories at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Embraco has been able to develop products with its own technological efforts and revert the external technological dependency, besides developing highly skilled human resources to its services, and afterwards, to the intensification of the interaction capacity with research laboratories. Beyond the visible results on products, many of them perform indirect effects, such as better production processes. These outcomes are attributed to the interaction with research laboratories at universities, without which the learning process, result of this intense interaction, would not have been possible. Also would not have been enough to create knowledge and product and process innovation; not only due to the knowledge production in laboratories, but also due to the capacity of highly skilled engineers, originated from the University-Enterprise relationship, to absorb all the knowledge developed in the laboratories.

The study assesses the influence of rapid urbanization on urban consumption pattern and food security of the urban dweller using primary data collected from urban households in Ashanti region of Ghana. The food security index was estimated based on a minimum daily calorie requirement of 2900Kcal. The consumption pattern indicates that yam, cassava and rice are gaining importance in urban household diet in the region. The expenditure share also shows that food constitutes 74.6% of urban household budget. The estimated food security index of the region is 0.66, implying that on average urban households in the region are food insecure. The results further show that 78.5% of the respondents are food insecure whiles 34.2% are affected by severe food insecurity. The study therefore recommends that government and other stakeholders should promote the consumption of local foods by branding local foods. Also, creation of alternative livelihood activities in urban areas could increase household income and increase their access to food.

This article deals with application of data mining methods' to analysis of learners' behaviour using the distance learning platform BlackBoard Vista (BlackBoard 2008). Before planning a distance learning course, instructors have to pay attention to the fact that there exist different study methods: some students start reading learning materials from the very beginning to the end, some students look at unclear topics only, some start with the discussions, etc. Therefore after analyzing the learning factors and identifying learner's style, it is possible to prepare individualized learning materials and to choose a proper way of course presentation. Such a way of study organization would improve the quality of studies and make it possible to reach better results. The research was performed by observing the behaviour and results achieved by 528 students in 15 distance learning courses and, using the clustering method, 3 learner's styles using virtual learning environments (VLE) have been identified and work methods proposed for students with regard to those learners' styles. Besides, the research aims to find out the factors that influence final evaluations of students' .

Intellectual property allows inventors to recoup reasonable research and development costs by granting temporary exclusive rights over inventions. Temporary exclusivity comes at a high price for the global poor. Many who urgently need access to vital medicines and agricultural innovations are left empty-handed. Insufficient access to objects of innovation is however only one of the many problems brought up by intellectual property rights. In a world of extreme inequalities it becomes much more profitable to do research for the appetites of the rich, leaving many problems that affect the global poor unresolved. Intellectual property can also function as a barrier for wider scientific participation: many journal articles are out of reach for researchers from the Global South and patents often hinder follow-up innovation. The dissertation analyses how intellectual property rights clash with a number of human rights and notions of global justice, and discusses three alternative proposals to current intellectual property regimes.

This chapter explores the constitution of the knowledge-based economy as an increasingly hegemonic meta-object of governance (and, indeed, meta-governance) in response to the crisis of Atlantic Fordism.  It interprets the knowledge-based economy (KBE) as a complex, heterogeneous, and variable assemblage of social relations, which are articulated to a distinctive set of subjectivities and mediated through material objects and social institutions. It also traces the rise of the KBE as a provisional, partial, and unstable product of distinctive discourses and material practices. It should be emphasized at once that this approach does not imply that capitalism is always characterized by such hegemonic meta-objects of (meta-)governance nor that the latter have some predetermined lifespan (let alone a predetermined life-course) that coincides with a preordained logic of capitalist development. Instead the following analysis is concerned with what I have elsewhere termed the ‘contingent necessity’ of durable institutional orders and with what actor-network theorists have elsewhere described as the problem of how Leviathan (and, by extension, other institutional ensembles) get ‘screwed down’ and actors are enrolled behind them (Jessop 1982; Callon and Latour 1981; Callon and Law 1982).

The study takes into consideration the problem of organizational quality gaps where the quality losses occur. Many service quality gaps are reviewed in this paper. But the four out of five quality gaps by Parasuraman et al. (1985) are examined. and service specifications existing in organizations. In a service organization usually more quality gaps might be identified. Identification of specific quality gaps is advantageous from a management point of view.

Technological innovation has been one of the fastest growing areas of economics scholarship and one where history and philosophy have played important roles. Since the reconstruction of Joseph Schumpeter’s view of innovation as a driver of capitalist development and the subsequent formation of the national innovation systems (NIS) theory in the early 1990s that can be described as neo-Schumpeterian, there has been a continuous attempt to explain innovation in social-scientific terms. However, much of this has positioned innovation as a value-neutral process. We argue that such value-neutrality requires closer analysis because the neo-Schumpeterian thinkers do appear to acknowledge that capitalism itself is an uneven, dynamic process. The relationship between the vital dynamism of such analysis of technological change and the context of its description of power relations and value deserves further attention. Under what conditions can systemic interactions between institutions and actors function as universal frameworks? Can the theory of innovation be abstracted from its social and political bases? This paper aims to redefine innovation as a predominately political process that is both historical and contextual, and thus draw out its implications for economics and development politics. The paper suggests some preliminary steps toward a more critical approach to innovation scholarship as part of a wider, heated ongoing debate about economics’ own relevance and contestation about its methods.

In this paper, we argue that community plays an important role in shaping the values and characteristics of top management teams. It builds on upper echelon theory to posit that community level characteristics are instrumental in framing the cognitions of CEOs and top executives. Strategic decisions made by managers in organizations represent the significant impact community has on top management teams. Examining the influence community has on top management teams provides additional implications about why certain firms perform better than others.

Abstract
Industry 4.0 has been considered as a concept defining the new techno-capitalist phase in the production processes for eight years. Under the circumstances providing a rapid transformation of the digital and robotic technologies, it can be claimed that the production processes would proceed in an integrated and simultaneous way through networks, and customised mass production which would be replaced with a standardised one. The special interest of business environments in the concept Industry 4.0 draws attention. These environments over-exaggerate the meaning of the concept. At the same time, they also claim that the practices initiated within the context of Industry 4.0 would transform the production processes and the world of work radically. The same environments assert that the mentioned transformation is a kind of “revolution” of the production processes and the working life as well. For this reason, the concept is used with connotations such as “the Fourth Industrial Revolution” or “Industry 4.0 Revolution” within the related literature. Apart from the business environments, trade unions, and federations, confederations also try to pay attention to the concept and its prospective impacts on the world of work. Although we are at an early stage to predict what the outcomes of the Industry 4.0 practices would be, when we take the historical integrity of technological-capitalistic development into account, it seems that a new gale of precarisation and unemployment could be experienced by labourers in the future. Due to all these reasons, the concept Industry 4.0 deserves to be assessed. This manuscript aims to analyse the Industry 4.0 debate with a critical approach. While the political economy context of the concept Industry 4.0 is scrutinised within the frame of techno-capitalism, the prospective impacts of the initial Industry 4.0 practices on labour, and the measures which would be taken in favour of labourers are discussed (even the current intellectual sphere has a restrictive nature in terms of working class’s capacity to struggle). This manuscript also analyses how Industry 4.0 can be functionalised for the sake of the working class. That is, this study aims to carry the debate on Industry 4.0 outside the boundaries of hegemonic mainstream discourse.

Introduction
The concept Industry 4.0 or the fourth industrial revolution is a top trend theme in the literature on the world of labour. The business environments draw special attention to the concept. Industry 4.0 is used to refer to the era that we presently live in and we will continue to live in in the future, and the concept emphasizes the digitalised and robotised transformation in the production processes… The leading companies of core countries glorify the digitalisation and robotisation process. Actually, the concept is especially glorified in the context of a socio-political motive that can be articulated as "the companies are doing the best for all". While core countries are heavily engaged in the issues such as augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and smart factories requiring high level of science, technology, mathematics, and engineering knowledge, semi-periphery countries also try to be involved in this process to some extent.

What will be the reflections of the Industry 4.0 debate on the world of labour? Naturally, national and international trade unions and pro-labour scholars seek an answer to this question. There are some circles with some reservations about the possible impacts of these practices. Some questions, which were regarded fictional previously, have gained some reality, and they imply the validity of these reservations. The most common one among these questions is if the robots can appropriate the jobs of humans?
This paper aims to make a non-mainstream analysis of the concept Industry 4.0. It focuses on the sociological dimension of the concept Industry 4.0 rather than its technical aspects. The first part presents the conceptual assessments of Industry 4.0. The second part focuses on who controls the Industry 4.0 debate. The relation between technology and capitalism within the context of Industry 4.0 and its possible impacts on labourers are discussed in the third part.
