Flutemazepam[1] was developed at a team at Stabilimenti Chimici Farmaceutici Riuniti SpA in the mid 1970s. Is a drug which is a 3-hydroxy benzodiazepine derivative and an analogue of temazepam that has hypnotic, sedative, amnesiac, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant and skeletal muscle relaxant properties. It is most closely related in structure to temazepam and is indicated for the treatment of severe insomnia.[2] Flutemazepam has properties similar to temazepam, and it has been found to be very effective for the treatment of severe states of anxiety, panic attacks, and severe insomnia.[3]
