    CAREER PLAN

    My ultimate career goal is to earn a career as a social media/online content writer or a career in Public
    Relations. The requirements needed to reach this career goal include a Bachelors Degree as well as my
    experience in the world of journalism.
    As time goes on, I also plan to earn a Masters Degree either in journalism or Communication. I plan to
    earn this degree through an accredited online university such as Ashford University of the Arizona
    State University through the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
    Academic courses I plan to enroll in order to earn my degree and get the most out of my education
    include a journalism class, communication courses, higher-level English courses, web design, and
    courses focused on media and media writing. I have already taken several public speaking and
    communication courses, as well as intro to graphic design. I plan to take more web/computer based
    classes as well in order to get a firm grasp on posting and managing online web content.
    Co-op and internship opportunities are not necessary to gain entrance into this field though are
    beneficial. I believe with my seven years of experience in media writing I will have many necessary
    skills that will give me an advantage over the competition.
    I plan to soon join the Public Relations Society, or PRSA, in order to align myself more accurately with
    the public relations profession. PRSA is a non-profit trade association for public relations professionals
    headquartered in New York City.
    Though Im not sure if there are any professional student organizations through SVSU that can help
    meet my career goals, I feel I am well on my way to reaching my requirements for my ultimate career
    goal.
    As previously mentioned, I have plenty of experience in media, professional writing, and media
    relations. I know the world of journalism and local news pretty well, and paired with my education, I
    feel I will be well on my way toward a successful career in writing.
