Our Vision: How We See Ourselves

Our congregation will be a diverse and progressive Christian faith community welcoming
all people. We envision a place that is exciting, providing opportunities to share an
encounter with the Spirit that we find in Jesus Christ, in humanity, in all of creation,
and in the mysterious ways that God appears to us.

Our Position Statement: How to Evaluate All That We Do

We seek to be Relevant, Inclusive, Beautiful in all we do.

Goals (July 2010 update)

All churches in the Minnesota Conference have been asked to prepare a Ministry Plan
for 2010 and forward, with particular focus on two Gospel imperatives presented
by the Bishop at the 2009 Annual Conference:
• Cultivate spiritual vitality
• Reach new people

Church lay leaders have worked in 2009-2010 to develop goals to align with these
imperatives.
Goal 1 on Spiritual Formation/Vitality by April 30, 2013:
Currently, on average 35% or 602 of the 1,714 members of
Hennepin are in worship on Sunday. For a healthy church, the national
goal for United Methodist churches is 60%. In the first year, as a reflection
of personal commitment to spiritual formation by members and friends of
Hennepin Church, our goal for average worship attendance will rise to
40% by April 30, 2013. (That is 27 more in worship on average by April
30, 2011.)

Goal 2 on Reaching New People by April 30, 2011:

Receive 110 new members

All ministry leaders and committees are invited to create plans that focus our lives
together on these Gospel imperatives and goals.
