Skiing
Miss Spain was very impressed with how well all the children did on their third ski lesson. This
week they have progressed from the beginners slope to the main slope. They learnt how to use
the drag lifts (with only a few tumbles) and on every run down they are improving their
snowplough and stopping. In the next two lessons they will be building on those skills further
by learning to turn, ready for the Ski trip to France in the holidays…....

Year 4 Art
During their art lesson with Mrs Britton, the children in Year 4 showed how skilled they are with
water colours to create a dramatic sea-scape in the style of J.MW. Turner.

Kindergarten Visit Kent Life

Kindergarten had a wonderful visit to the Kent Life centre in Maidstone today. They saw sheep, lambs,
pigs, llamas and they fed the goats and chickens. A highlight for many of the children was a ride on the
tractor while others enjoyed a cuddle in ‘Cuddle Corner’.

Comic Relief
Celebration Assembly saw a sea of red take over the school hall this morning, which can only
mean one thing - Comic Relief Day! Red noses and red sports kit were very popular, with each
child (and adult) donating £1 to wear their own clothes. Through this simple gesture, Bronte
School raised £198 which will all be donated to Comic Relief.

The morning had begun with our visiting athlete, Luke Lennon-Ford, leading every class in keep
fit exercises, and during Assembly he gave an informative presentation including video of
himself running for Great Britain. Luke is a British sprinter who specialises in the 400 metres
and has represented at Olympic Games standard.

He also represents Sports for Champions UK, a group dedicated to placing athletes in schools
with the aim of inspiring young children towards healthier lifestyles. He taught the children
about healthy diets and his own journey recovering from setbacks, using the memorable
phrase 'Failure is never final'. Our children were very mature in their response to this powerful
message, applying it to their own learning.

We were also delighted to announce that our total giving today raised £873. Mr Johnson
explained that much of this will be invested into Bronte School as well as supporting Sports for
Champions UK. It was a fantastic start to our day and such a positive way to celebrate Red
Nose Day, shown by the many happy children who have competed and laughed their way
throughout an extraordinary day in school, culminating in a ‘Teachers vs Children’ Zone Ball
competition…………..
