    Title of Activity: Q1K MEDICAL MISSION
    Date: February 4, 2019
    Participants: 100 beneficiaries

    I. RATIONALE:

    Presently, among the current initiatives of the Government to address malnutrition-


    stunting is the Early Childhood Care and Development in the First 1000 Days (ECCD F1K) Program.
    The program is anchored on the key elements of health, nutrition, early learning, social services
    and others (agriculture), and packaged to strengthen the existing interventions in the first 1000
    days.

    The F1K Program involves the delivery of an intervention package that is focused on the
    first 1000 days of life or the period of pregnancy (270 days) which starts from conception,
    followed by the first two years of life (730 days). This recognizes the golden window of
    opportunity during which key interventions of health, nutrition, social services and early learning
    must be available and delivered for the optimum growth and development of the child. This is
    also the period during which poor nutrition can cause irreversible effects on the physical and
    mental development of the child, consequences of which are felt way into adulthood.

    In connection with the F1K Program initiative of the NATIONAL NUTRITION COUNCIL, the
    QUEZON’S FIRST 1000 DAYS OF LIFE (Q1K) PROGRAM was launched in 2015 and initially implemented in
    twelve (12) pilot municipalities. The program aims to optimize the health interventions for both
    the mother and child during this crucial period. This year, Q1K advances to a province-wide
    implementation. As per Ordinance No. 2016-55 entitled “An Ordinance Creating the Quezon’s
    First 1000 Days of Life Program (Q1K) and its Adoption in All City/Municipal Government of
    Quezon Province”, each city/municipality shall create and adopt the Q1K Program to uphold the
    right to health of every Quezonian mother and child during the first 1000 days of life, directing
    every local government unit to focus and commit to ensuring the delivery of quality services.

    II. OBJECTIVES:

    1. To orient the beneficiaries on the F1K and Q1K program implementation in the
    MUNICIPALITY OF CANDELARIA, anchoring on its benefits and special activities on health,
    dental and environmental sanitation (MHO);

    2. To orient the beneficiaries on the regular conduct of Parent Effectiveness Sessions


    (DSWD);

    3. To orient and train beneficiaries on home gardening (MAO);

    4. To intensify maternal, newborn, and child health and nutrition programs of the
    province, which seeks to attain Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); and
    5. To promote active participation among the Local Government Unit and various
    stakeholders in the province-wide implementation of the Q1K Program and the F1K
    Program for the benefit of the constituents of the Municipality of Candelaria.
