A promoter wants to carry out a hotel development in the Eastern coastal zone of the
island. The land is actually under cultivation. As per legislation in force, the promoter
needs to obtain an Environmental Impact Assessment report from the Ministry of
Environment.

a. What are the environmental impacts that need to be assessed in the report?

b. After the construction phase, the promoter wants to obtain ISO 14000
certification for the hotel.

i. Propose an Environmental Policy for the hotel. [2 marks]

ii. Give one impact and one aspect for three activities carried out in the hotel.

iii. Give two objectives and two targets for the hotel. [4 marks]

c. Discuss the benefits of implementing an Environmental Management System in


the hotel.
