    I. Objective To do away with clichés, redundant, and deadwood words when

    1. What is diction?
    2. What is the importance of using effective words in creative writing?

    C. Motivation
    Exploratory activity:
    The students will bring an essay or a short article in class. Encircle all
    the verbs used in the essay. Classify whether the verbs used are in the
    active voice or passive voice.

    D. Activity
    Set Work:
    Activity #1: Eliminating Wordiness. The students will remove
    unnecessary and redundant words in the sentences and rewrite them.

    Activity #2: Using adjectives and adverbs. The students will classify
    whether the adjectives or adverbs used in the following sentences are
    strong and effective. If not, remove them and see if the sentences can stand
    without them.

    IV. EVALUATION Eliminating Wordiness. Remove unnecessary and redundant words in the
    sentences and rewrite them.
    1. A rat that was trapped in our sink glared at us in a hostile manner, and it
    was shrieking as we moved closer to it.
    2. Anyone who is interested to join the Book Club should visit the student
    center, which is located at the third floor.
    3. Luigi found the information that he was looking for, which is found in
    the Humanities section, and found under the Filipiniana shelf.
    4. The student’s sort of paid respect to their teachers during the Teachers
    Day by actually offering flowers.
    5. Heavy traffic is always experienced in Manila due to the fact that there
    are basically many motorists who do not follow simple road rule.
