Preparedness Week
July 12, 2019
Teacher In- charge: Teacher Meloida Biscarra
In line with the campaign to be safe of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Council or NDRRMC empowered by the Department of Education, Trinity United
School of Bataan Inc. conducted an earthquake drill in the school campus last July 12, 2019 at
exactly 9 o’clock in the morning. The Bureau of Fire Protection from the municipality of Samal,
Bataan led the activity with the principal, school staffs, teachers and their respective classes. The
drill was carried
out
simultaneously and smoothly. All the students occupied their designated areas based on the
school evacuation plan.
Before the conduct of the earthquake and fire drill, some of the fire volunteer instructed
teachers and staffs of what to do in case of a disaster like an earthquake. The teachers eliminated
the information in each class before that when a siren sound blurted for one minute as a signal
that an earthquake is currently happening. Everybody in their respective classes ducked and
covered themselves under their armchairs and tables. After that, the teachers led their advisory
classes in heading to the designated evacuation area located in front of the Principal’s Office
Building. They were grouped together according to the class where they belong. Then, all
classroom teachers did a headcount to make sure that all pupils are accounted for. Mrs. Noemi
Pablo, the school principal announced the termination of the drill. In summary, the drill was
successfully implemented and nobody was injured because the routines were systematic and
everybody was cooperative during the activity.
Furthermore, Fire Safety Seminar and Drill was also conducted within the school vicinity
with the aid of Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) because July recognized as “Fire Prevention
Month “the Department of Education sent an order to conduct a fire drill in every school in order
to inform each learner on how to save their lives and be free from any damages whenever there is
a conflagration. A fire drill is a method of practicing the evacuation of a building for a fire or
other emergency. Generally, the emergency system (usually the fire alarm/smoke detector)
sounds and the building is evacuated as though a real fire had occurred. Usually, the time it takes
to evacuate is measured to ensure that it occurs within a reasonable length of time, and problems
with the emergency system or evacuation procedures are identified to be remedied. In connection
with this, the Trinity United Methodist School of Bataan Inc. also executed a fire drill last July
12, 2019 (Friday) after the earthquake drill was conducted successfully ,each class adviser
assisted the pupils to went straight to the church to have an orientation about fire drill. Fire
volunteers showed the proper way of evacuating in the event of fire or other emergency. They
also showed the suits and equipment they are using in their work field. Fire volunteers let them
tried to wear the suits and equipment.
In addition to
that, teachers
and staffs
were also oriented in actual demonstration how to use the fire extinguisher properly. Here are the
steps
The acronym PASS is used to describe these four basic steps.
1. Pull (Pin) Pull pin at the top of the extinguisher, breaking the seal. ...
2. Aim. Approach the fire standing at a safe distance. ...
3. Squeeze. Squeeze the handles together to discharge the extinguishing agent inside. ...
4. Sweep.
Certainly, the fire and earthquake drill was effectively completed with the genuine
interest and cooperation of the pupils and teachers to learn about it. The fire and earthquake drill
lasted for about an hour. As a result, all learned what to do and where to run and place
themselves for safety in case of emergency.
With that, the Trinity United Methodist School of Bataan Inc. gave the certificate of appreciation
to the Fire Volunteers from the Bureau of Fire Protection of the Municipality of Samal. The
certificate was given by the beloved principal Mrs. Noemi Pablo.
NUTRITION MONTH
July 26, 2019
Teacher In- charge: Teacher Meloida Biscarra
July was set to celebrate Nutrition Month in our country. It was done yearly
or annually by the third week of the said month. This year’s theme is “Kumain ng
wasto at maging aktibo…. Push natin to!” The theme encourages everyone to
advocate and realize the importance of healthy diets, increased physical activity
and reduced sedentary behaviour. Pushing the advocacy means that each and every
one can contribute to better nutrition and physical activity for better health.
To further give our pupils and even their parents the knowledge on the
importance of nutrition we stewarded Nutrition Month Celebration in our school
on the 26th day of July, 2019. With this, pupils had chance to join the Zumba
Zamba and Poster making contest prepared by the teaching personnel of Trinity
United Methodist School of Bataan Inc.
