Teacher will Emphasize through a discussion the sexual and reproductive capacity of
men and women:
A characteristic feature of reproductive capacity in women is its cyclical

nature, a feature that is strikingly reflected by the growth and
development of oocytes and follicles within the ovaries .
The process begins at puberty with the first cycle and ends at the
menopause with the permanent cessation of menses.
Just as women gradually lose reproductive capacity, men experience
a climacteric of sorts in which there is a reduction in the number of viable sperm
they produce due to degenerative changes in the seminiferous tubules of
the testes (Harman, 1978). With increasing age, men may experience changes in
the prostate gland that lead to a reduction of the volume and pressure of semen
expelled during ejaculation. Age-related changes also include overgrowth or
hypertrophy of the glandular and connective tissue in the parts of the prostate
that surround the prostatic urethra.
During sexual intercourse sperm are transferred from the penis of the male
into the vagina of the female. They then swim through the uterus to the oviduct
and can fertilize an egg cell if one is present.
D. Abstraction
Before hormones are introduced in the male and female reproductive
system, coordination of the hypothalamus, pituitary gland and the reproductive organ
happen which are summarized below:
a. Hypothalamus monitors and causes the release of hormones from the pituitary
gland.
b. Gonadotrophin- releasing hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus enables
follicle-stimulating (FSH) AND Luteinizing hormone (LH)
In the anterior pituitary gland to be secreted in the bloodstream and into the
reproductive organ.
c. FSH and LH are produced in both sexes and play important roles in controlling
reproduction.

Task 4: Analyzing the importance of healthy lifestyle in maintaining
normal hormone production.
4. Each student will write 5 sentence answer analyzing the importance of
healthy lifestyle in maintaining normal hormone production in the
male and female reproductive systems.
