The Internet is the Digital Age's defining technology, this worldwide system of

computer networks, which is mostly built on wireless technology infrastructures nowadays

it allows every multimodal, interactive communication in a time and place of one's choices.
Civilization, the industry, and the environment have all been dramatically influenced by
technology. Technologies like internet such as social media has contributed to many
environmental and social issues, but it is also critical in combating environmental deterioration,
global warming, food shortages, waste disposal, and other major global issues. It defines
technology as "a human-created system that uses information and structure to develop items
and processes for the achievement of certain goals" (Volti 2009, p. 6). Technology has an
impact on how people interact, acquire, and perceive. It contributes to society and influences
how individuals interact on a regular schedule. In today's world, technology especially the
internet plays a critical role. It has both beneficial and negative repercussions on the planet, as
well as a direct impact on people's lives. Internet in this generation is very significant and may
be part of individuals’ life. Social media as a part of internet is one of today’s frequently used
as modern way of communicating. We can’t deny the fact that this sort of technology is
embracing the life of today’s generation as it commonly uses as way of communicating,
awareness, and entertainment. In spite how useful the advantages we are having now, there are
still many errors. Many inaccurate information has been disseminated through the public which
causes confusions and misunderstandings.
Modern generation needs modern improvement and that’s why internet also existed.
This modern tool for modern world allows each individual to improve the quality of living as
it makes our life more easier than we imagine. As of today, internet is very consequential in
terms of education as it represents as the new system of learning. Kim (2011) believes that
using the internet for educational purposes is at the foundation of youth academic progress.
The internet is practically universally available, and most individuals have internet access on
their smartphones (Ellore et al. 2014). Internet really bring great contribution in our world that
able us to make things possible without any hassle and conflicts. It maybe has this kind of
advantage in this new era however, this new system of learning avoids the interactions and
socializing between one another. It prevents the people to make new friends and boost their
confidence to deal with other people who has higher authorities.
Another great contribution of internet is it gives primary and consequential information
that would bring awareness to the people. In terms of crisis and disaster, internet as of today is
very valuable. It delivers reliable and informative information towards to the netizens. The use
of internet grants its users great awareness of the importance of the world around them. The
Internet also delivers a lot of knowledge and serves as a valuable addition to traditional study
and learning methods (Ramadevi, 2015). The Internet is a worldwide computer network that
offers a wide range of information and communication services. It is possibly the most useful
source for acquiring the most up-to-date information, which would otherwise take a month to
appear in print (Gagan & Rakesh, 2013). Prior to this digital era that we are living, internet
already exists. However, the means of mass communication long ago is clearly not efficient
compared to these days. Internet as we know is the communication outlets or tools used to store
and deliver information or data. On the other hand, internet are the websites and applications
that enable users create content to share and it is also the means to participate in social
networking. While social networking is use of dedicated websites and applications to interact
with one another, and or also to find people with similar interests to oneself with the other
users. As we experience such a difficult tragedies or crisis presently, internet such as social
media is one of the primary sources of our information. In there, influencers, authority and
press medias share information to the netizens by posting videos and pictures with a caption
about what transpired. Additionally, social media provides updates, and it serves as source of
our information and communication channel with other people to respond back or ask some
random questions. The greatest advantage of internet like social media platforms such as
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and more during a crisis would allow and make an immediate
emergency response and spread information as well during serious type of events or tragedies.
But sometimes not all information that we gather in internet are all accurate and well informed
as the reason of some of the details are falsely informative. Other information that we read on
the internet can possibly triggers and cause harm and it also leads to the division of nationalism,
religions, and politics.
The internet in this modern generation is very applicable and play a significant role
especially as we deal with crisis, internet is whom we can lean on in terms in sources of
information. Furthermore, as the internet globally expands and improve their quality of usage,
the social interaction and the social life of individuals are absolutely affected due to platforms
of the internet that gives entertainment to people and can possibly make them stay all night in
their rooms. We can’t deny the fact that internet currently can possibly be a hindrance towards
social life of each citizen. It could also be the main problem of having a divided society as the
reason of some information that we gather in internet can possibly bring false information and
triggers conflicts towards one another. Research has identified that internet may has a great
contributor in terms of education and information, however, it has also some sort of
disadvantages such as it tolerates the avoidance of social interactions in education and
can also lead to dishonesty of some quizzes and exams. Moreover, in terms of information,
many inaccurate information has been disseminated through the public which causes
confusions and misunderstandings. Instead of putting an end to the issues or just so by
informing people, it created conflicts between one another due to fake news, data and
with bias presentations. Truly, these days, this is one of the hardest hurdles we are facing
with a fact that we are a struggling and battling this pandemic. Transparency and
accuracy are what we need. It is our key to achieve unity. It will cause nothing but the
goodness and the betterment of everyone. I therefore conclude that internet has its own of
advantages in our society hence, it has also disadvantaged that can lead towards a major
problem in our globalization. Internet maybe a great help in this modern generation but just
like the other contrivance if we mishandle the accurate usage of internet, it could lead us to a
great prospect of disadvantages and may also lead towards to divided society.
