Hypercase Experience 11

Hypercase Questions:

1. Consider the reports from the Training Unit. What are Snowden’s complaints about these

reports? Explain in a paragraph.

Snowden has a bunch of complaints about the reports form the Training Unit. He

can’t access the data at any time, which he should be able to with the new Gems

System. He also mentioned about not having a summary of data of clients that he

receives weekly and status reports on projects are not always available on demand and

not summarized. He also points out that the Training Unit has a “laid back” attitude about

completing project management forms in a timely manner. Overall, Snowden counts the

data he receives from the Training Unit as not wholly reliable.

2. Using either a layout paper form, Microsoft Visio, or a CASE tool, design a prototype

output display based on the Training Unit’s reports that will summarize the following

information for Snowden: Number of accepted projects in the Training Unit. Number of

projects currently being reevaluated. Training subject areas for which a consultant is

being requested.
3. Design an additional output display that you think will support Snowden in the kind of

decision making he does frequently.

A display screen that shows the details of the projects accepted in the training unit.

4. Show your designs to three classmates. Get written feedback from them about how to

improve the output displays you have designed.

5. Redesign the displays to capture the improvements suggested by your classmates. In a

paragraph, explain how you have addressed each of their concerns.

To address their concerns, I’ve added instructions at the bottom of the screens to

help them and Snowden understand how to use the screen. I’ve also added a way to

connect the two screens together by clicking the number of accepted projects to

navigate to the projects accepted screen, this will help Snowden to easily view the data

side by side. And lastly I’ve added a way to easily exit the screen.

Hypercase Questions:

1. Using either a paper layout form, Microsoft Visio, or form design software, design a

prototype paper form that captures client information for the Training Unit.
2. Test your form on three classmates by having each of them fill it out. Ask them for a

written critique of the form.

3. Redesign your input form to reflect your classmates’ comments.

4. Using either a paper layout form, Microsoft Visio, or form design software, design a

prototype display form that captures client information for the Training Unit.

5. Test your input display on three classmates by having each of them try it out. Ask them

for a written critique of the display’s design

6. Redesign the input display based on the comments you receive. In a paragraph, explain

how you have addressed each comment.

To address their concerns, I’ve added the company logo and a name to the form

which will give the clients the knowledge of where this form came from and what it is

about. I’ve also changed some input boxes with dropdowns to help clients understand
thoroughly the question and to reduce repetitive inputs. I’ve also added clear button to

help clients remove multiple errors. Finally, I made the input display quite presentable to

the eyes of the client.

Hypercase Questions:
1. Assume your team members have used the Training Unit Client Characteristics

Report to design a database table to store the relevant information contained on this

report, with the following result:

Client_table

2. Apply normalization to the table your team has developed to remove repeating

groups. Display your results.

Ensuring that each attribute contains single value:

Client_table

After applying 1nf and 2nf:

3. Remove transitive dependencies from your table and show your resulting database

table.

Hypercase questions:

1. Write a short proposal describing what type of user interface would be appropriate for

the users of the project reporting system who are in the training group. Include reasons

for your decision.

The type of user interface that would be appropriate for the users of project reporting

system is GUI interface specifically a Web interface. As we all know, the training unit are

familiar of using GUI interfaces because they use Shiroma computers which uses GUI.

GUI interfaces also offers a lot of tools such as dropdowns, radio buttons, and hyperlinks

that can help the users work or input data faster and more precise.
2. Design a user interface using a CASE tool, such as Visible Analyst, a software package

such as Microsoft Access, or paper layout forms for the training group. What are the key

features that address the needs of the people in the training group?

Add new project page:

Budget Report Page:

Schedule Report Page:

The key features that I’ve added are the use of hyperlinks, this divides the date entry into 3 parts,

this is to help the user easily navigate to reports and not get confused. I’ve also added dropdowns

to help the user input data faster and to receive precise data. I’ve also provided instructions to

help users understand how to fill up the forms.

3. Write a short proposal describing what type of user interface would be appropriate for

the users of the B2B ecommerce systems Melanie Corazón described in her interview.

Include reasons for your decision.

The user interface that is appropriate for this is GUI interface specifically a web interface.

This is mainly because it is an ecommerce, it will be easier for the customers to buy

items online than going directly to MRE. GUI interfaces also offers lot of tools that can

help create the site such as hyperlinks for navigating between B2B and B2C, drop
downs to list the products, and etc. But there is also a risk in data security in using this

type of interface, data encryption should be included to protect customers’ sensitive

data.
4. Design a user interface using a CASE tool, such as Visible Analyst, a software package

such as Microsoft Access, or paper layout forms for the users of the B2B ecommerce

systems Melanie Corazón described. What are the key features that address the needs

of the people who use B2B ecommerce systems on the Web?

Hardware Page:
Software Page:

The key feature that I’ve added in the interface is the use of hyperlinks, this is to distinguish easily

hardware products and software products for users. I’ve also use hyperlink to directly redirect the
user to the software needed for the product they want to purchase. I’ve also added Ajax to

populate dropdown to help users identify what product they want to buy and to have that data

precisely.
5. Make a bulleted list of any usability concerns Ashley might have with the interfaces you

designed.
 ACKNOWLEDGING ACCEPTANCE OF INPUT
 EXPLAINING A DELAY IN PROCESSING.
 NOTIFYING THAT A REQUEST WAS NOT COMPLETED.

Hypercase 15

Hypercase questions:

1. Using a CASE tool, a software package such as Microsoft Access, or a paper layout

form, design a data entry procedure for the proposed project reporting system for the

Training group. Assume we are particularly concerned about the consulting physicians
staff, who don’t want to spend a great deal of time keying in large amounts of data when

using the system.

Scroll Down:

2. Test your data entry procedure on three teammates. Ask for feedback concerning the

appropriateness of the procedure, given the type of users the system will have.
3. Redesign the data entry procedure to include the feedback you have received. Explain in

a paragraph how your changes reflect the comments you were given.

Schedule Report Page:

Budget Report Page:

To redesign the data entry procedure, I’ve used the GUI design I’ve made in chapter 14 number

2 because it looks nicer and made some changes to the data entry in Schedule Report Page

and Budget Report Page. I’ve used coding to make the input from user short. I’ve also supplied

instructions or guide how to fill up the forms. I’ve also used dropdowns to make the input from

user be more precise.
