(Explain afterwards the magic of each words and what they do to
the person each time we say good and bad words)
Tell students that there are some words we say that make our actions
and words more polite and beautiful. ‘Thank you’ is one such magic
word.
Brainstorm, asking them if they know of any other magic word such
as;
Please

You are welcome.

There will be a box full of strips of paper with different scenarios. They need to
show and express the appropriate polite words to use in each scenario. Give
them five-7 minutes to prepare, then present their skits for the class.
1. Your grandmother gives you a puppy for your birthday. (dog stuff toy)
2. You are with your family having dinner. You want someone to pass you the
salt. Which is far end of the table. (salt)
3. You burp or sneeze in the middle of the conversation with your teacher.
4. You accidentally step on someone’s toe.
5. You see your classmate trip and fall.
6. Your mom helps you with your homework.
7. You have to squeeze between two people having a conversation, in order to
get to your cubby or locker.
Make a gratitude jar or good manner jar. Each time the kids make a good
manner, they’ll put a heart inside the jar with the good things that they did. At
the end of the semester or month, the teacher can read 10 hearts to the class so
they’ll be inspired to continue on whatever they’re doing and be a motivation
for others to do the same.
Write and share your unforgettable experience when someone did something good to you or used good
manners/magic words. What did you feel?
