The Chase
A Scenario Game Expansion for Gaslands by Mike Hutchinson and Glenn Ford. Scenario
designed by Josh Campbell.
As a result of a gas shortage, cans have become increasingly more expensive and
therefore are now used as an alternative for currency. However, the value of a dollar is still
very relevent. Gaslands teams are running low on money and need a way to come up with cans
in order to purchase new equipment not provided by their sponsors. The teams are forced to
turn to a life of crime.
While the sponsors do not approve, they understand that the drivers need a way to get
some cash. They will have nothing to do with any criminal activity in the public eye, but will
gladly turn their heads to gain a profit. In these dire circumstances, sponsors will not even
provide weapons and upgrades, and so the drivers must rely on their own skills and personal
equipment.
THE CHASE is a scenario expansion for Gaslands based on the game's Death Race for
two players. One player is chosen to represent the Police and the other becomes the Heist
Crew. This scenario can be played standalone, or as a bridge between (or prequel to) other
scenarios.
THE POLICE
All Police vehicles must be easily identified as Law Enforcement or Military vehicles.
One Police vehicle may choose to add the Armour Plating upgrade.
1
choose to add the Hot Start perk.
SETUP
Set up three or more GATES at least one long straight away from each other. Orient the
gates as you choose. Choose one of the gates to be the BANK (STARTING GATE) and one to be
the SAFEHOUSE (FINISH LINE). Lay out some terrain to represent a post-apocalyptic abondoned
city or death race. Ensure there are plenty of obstacles actually on the track and in the way of
the race.
RACE END
The scenario is over when:
b: All of a team's vehicles have passed through all gates and reached the safehouse
VICTORY
If all of the Police vehicles reach the SAFEHOUSE before all of the Heist Crew vehicles,
the Heist Crew has been caught and the Police win. If all of the Heist Crew vehicles reach the
SAFEHOUSE before all of the Police vehicles, the Heist Crew has lost the Police and therefore
secured a victory. In the case that a Heist Crew (or Police) Vehicle is destroyed, as long as the
rest of the team makes it to the safehouse before all of the Police (or Heist Crew) vehicles, it is
still considered a Heist Crew (or Police) win, but not as prestigious.
