With this unit we are beginning to work on reading independently using the high frequency words we are learning and pictures for the words we do not know. I will be sending home copies of these books. If you child reads them to you, a pet, or a family member and brings it back signed 3 times they get a pencil, or eraser and a reading certificate! Here is a list of some books children will be trying to read independently:

In math we are continuing to learn how to count to 20. Not only In our classroom we are learning so much! Thank you everyone for checking children's folders, sending in school supplies, and for helping with any behavior problems. Also thank you very much for coming out for Open House, I enjoyed meeting everyone! In other news updates have been made to the class website and new pictures are posted on Smug Mug. You will need to type in our password to the photos. have we been practicing counting items but we also are practicing drawing certain quantities. We will begin graphing and measuring within the next couple of weeks

We now are examining the trees as they begin to change color. We are also are learning the different parts of a tree and have been investigating fruit trees. We have also practiced drawing and labeling a tree's parts

This month we are continuing our handwriting program called Handwriting Without Tears.You may notice that Handwriting Without Tears usesa different kind of handwriting lines then are typically expected. These lines were created with young chi in mind and playa significant role in your child's handwriting success.
