a) identify the different propaganda techniques (bandwagon, plain folks,
testimonial, name calling, and glittering generalities);
b) write an evaluation report about the characteristics of different
advertisements using the different propaganda strategies.
c) appreciate the usefulness of propaganda techniques.

A BIAS writing is Subjective. The writing has an unfair presentation of


the issue. Meaning the author is mainly focusing on one side only.

UNBIASED writing is Objective. The writing gives a fair presentation


of the issue and focuses on both sides.

Propaganda
• Propaganda is a set of strategies designed to persuade someone to
believe in an idea, support a cause, or buy a product. It is also designed to
manipulate people.

• are different methods or styles used in advertisement to promote
products or services.

1. Glittering Generalities- Words of praise for product or person; nice words


like goodness or patriotism.

2. Bandwagon- A propaganda technique that urges people to believe


everyone is buying it. Therefore, you should do the same.

4. Plain Folks - A propaganda technique works in a way to establish that the


speaker is regular and ordinary and has the same views and opinions as the
people he is appealing to. It creates a sense of camaraderie between the
speaker and his audience which helps build belief in the idea.

The class will have a group activity. They will be divided based on students' talents
and interests. The students’ group are based on skills like writing, design, public
speaking, and artistic abilities. In this activity, the class will apply propaganda
techniques to create an advertisement from Gen. E. Aguinaldo products /sceneries
below.
