Module 2

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to;
A. Differentiate Facts and Opinions;
B. Identify the useful expressions of opinion; and
C. Express opinion about specific topic.
II. Subject Matter
Expressing Opinions Effectively
Materials: English 8 Module – Quarter 2, Page 1-13
Hands-out
III. Procedure
A. Preparation
 Greetings the students and ask them to seat properly.
 Checking of attendance.
B. Recall
The teacher will ask the students what was the previous lesson all about.
C. Motivation
The teacher will ask the students what makes the ‘facts’ fact and an ‘opinion’ opinion.

D. Lesson Proper
Teacher will then introduce the lesson to the students which is the “Expressing opinions
effectively.”

E. Activity
The teacher will give short sentences which students have to identify if it’s fact or
opinion.
1. The sun is a star.
2. The Christmas during pandemic time is the worst Christmas ever!
3. Vanilla Ice cream is the best flavor of ice cream.
F. Generalization
Teacher will ask the students about what they learn and to:
 Define what makes an opinion, opinion.
 Identify the effective expression of opinion or what we call the Opinion
Marking Signals.
 Make an example of opinion.
IV. Evaluation
Directions: Read the text below and identify at least 5 opinions given in the text.
“Are video games good way to keep fit?’
Guide Questions:
1. What did the author say about video games?
2. What are his reasons or justifications?
3. How did he introduce his ideas?

V. Agreement
The teacher will tell the students to review and study what they learn today.

B. Compare and contrast the presentation of the same topic in the same multimodal text.

Presentation of the Same Topic
in Different Multimodal Texts
Materials: English 8 Module – Quarter 2, Page 1-13
Hands-out, Video presentation
III. Procedure
A. Preparation
 Greetings the students and ask them to seat properly.
 Checking of attendance.
B. Recall
The teacher will ask the students what was the previous lesson all about.
C. Motivation
The teacher will flash a table of information about the 7 continents of the world.
D. Lesson Proper
Teacher will ask the students of what they can say about the information above.

The teacher will then introduce the lesson to the students saying “Comparing and
contrasting are two essential skills that you must acquire
to improve your judgment. As you grow up, you make decisions of your own.
Whether major or minor, you have to analyze your choices by considering some
significant aspects or factors to avoid regrets.”

E. Activity
The teacher will flash a chart which students have to compare and contrast the subject
given using table or Venn diagram.
F. Generalization
The teacher will ask the students the following:
 What is our topic all about?
 In writing your compare/contrast essay, what are issues that you should avoid
doing.
IV. Evaluation
Activity 1. My Heroes
Read the opinion article below, and accomplish the compare and contrast chart
that follows.

Suppose there are two similar things that you would like to buy in an online
shop, but your money is only enough for one. Decide which one to keep by
comparing and contrasting the items. Use a Venn diagram or a comparison and
contrast chart to process your decision and arrive at a better choice.
