refers to the increasing integration of economies around the world, particularly through the movement
of goods, services, and capital across borders. It has grown at an increased rate due to an increase in
communication and technological advances. Economic globalization is a spread of trade, transportation,
and communication systems on global scale in the interest promoting international commerce.
2. How globalization reciprocally developed economies all over the world and increased cultural
exchanges?
The changes a country experiences from international trade are not only economic. Many of the cultural
changes are as important and sometime, even more obvious than the economic changes the nation can
experience. Cultural practices and expressions are also passed between nations, spreading from group
to group. This is called diffusion.
Lagarde defends we should pursue globalization policies that extend the benefits of openness and
integration while alleviating their side effects. How to make globalization more just is a very complex
question that involves redesigning economic systems. But how? That’s the question. Globalization is
deeply connected with economic systems and markets, which, on their turn, impact and are impacted
by social issues, cultural factors that are hard to overcome, regional specificities, timings of action and
collaborative networks. All of this requires, on one hand, global consensus and cooperation, and on the
other, country-specific solutions, apart from a good definition of the adjective just.
B. Elaborate and discuss the Politicians Globalization Quotes. (Write your OWN ideas 5points each.)
1. “No generation has had the opportunity, as we now have, to build a global economy that leaves no-
one behind. It is a wonderful opportunity, but also a profound responsibility.”
This was referring to the positive and negative aspects of globalization. With todays technology we see
even more opportunities. And as more and more countries become open markets for ASEA we only see
positive effects of globalization.
2. “Globalization is a fact, because of technology, because of an integrated global supply chain, because
of changes in transportation. And we’re not goikng to be able to build a wall around that.”
3. “I find that because of modern technological evolution and our global economy, and as a result of the
great increase in population, our world has greatly changed: it has become much smaller. However, our
perceptions have not evolved at the same pace; we continue to cling to old national demarcations and
the old feelings of ‘us’ and ‘them’.”
War seems to be part of the history of humanity. As we look at the situation of our planet in the past,
countries, regions and even villages were economically independent of one another. Under those
circumstances, the destruction of our enemy might have been a victory for us. There was a relevance to
violence and war. However, today we are so interdependent that the concept of war has become
outdated. When we face problems or disagreements today, we have to arrive at solutions through
dialogue. Dialogue is the only appropriate method. One-sided victory is no longer relevant. We must
work to resolve conflicts in a spirit of reconciliation and always keep in mind the interests of others. We
cannot destroy our neighbors! We cannot ignore their interests! Doing so would ultimately cause us to
suffer. I therefore think that the concept of violence is now unsuitable. Nonviolence is the appropriate
method."
4. “Globalization is not only something that will concern and threaten us in the future, but something
that is taking place in the present and to which we must first open our eyes.”
This was referring that we must become accustomed to the idea that the reality we are dealing with is a
transnational or a cosmopolitan reality, in which cultures are recombining and in which the boundaries
we still assume to exist have already been at least partially swept away. Globality means that everyday
life is permeated by the perception of global problems. In their daily lives, people can see they are
affected by questions that do not only relate to one location, but affect civilization as a whole. We do
not yet have the solutions to these questions, but the awareness that we live in an endangered world is
present in more and more life situations.
5. The fact is that as living standards have risen around the world, world trade has been the mechanism
allowing poor countries to increasingly take care of really basic needs, things like vaccination.”
Fundamentally the world trade must been become allowing everyone wants world trade, people want
prosperity. What has caused protests is the deregulation of trade. People don't want prosperity where
the minority makes a profit at the expense of the many. Does the basic needs take care of poor
countries to have a things like vaccination.
6. “Imagine there’s no countries. It isn’t hard to do. Nothing to kill or die for. And no religion, too.
Imagine all the people. Living life in peace. You, you may say I’m a dreamer. But I’m not the only one. I
hope someday you will join us. And the world will be as one”
Thi was referring with no heaven or hell and only the sky, to imagine a world free of religion, free of
religious conflicts, and instead a world filled with people solely focused on living in the present.
describes a world without divisions, physical or otherwise. its straightfroward purposely urges the
audience to actually imagine the conflict-free world he is describing. Upon doing so, he hopes the
audience will realize how much of the conflict and division in the world is completely human-made. By
the third verse, Lennon has already “imagined” no heaven, no countries, no religion — here, he goes
even further to imagine a world with no possessions. When we have no possessions or ownership,
material greed disappears to starts to share the world together. This might seem far off from our
capitalist reality, but it actually is the trend we are moving towards the sharing economy. As the world
becomes increasingly digital with photos, communication, and entertainment online, people are starting
to have fewer possessions.
