I. INTRODUCTION
In a construction field there has been activities involved to handle with paints, chemicals and fuels has the
possibility of spill and pollute the environment make harm to personnel involved. The present activities on
site involve painting of spools, precast manholes, foundations, duct banks etc., hence personnel involved in
the activities are exposed to contact with harmful chemicals, fumes that could result to personal injuries,
spillage of chemicals and damage of property.
For this reason, Hazardous material spill drills must be conducted to educate and make them
understand hazardous material spill emergency response communication procedures and prepare
emergency spill control team on how to respond properly at any time in case of spillage of chemicals.

At RMCO laydown chemical storage, a worker was handling/unloading chemical cans. During
performing the job unexpectedly, a can full of paint was formed leak. Due to the leak, chemicals spill
around the working area. Immediately concerned supervisor noticed and informed to the site HSE officer
and HSE informed to spill response team and site management.
Immediately Spill Response team member arrived to the spot and initiated the action to control the spill
along with first aider,
HSE Manager informed to Contractor HSE Manager and describes the incident.
