Course Title : HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN EDUCATION
Credit Units : 3 units
Pre-requisite : None

I. Course Description

The course will provide an overview of human resource management, with emphasis in strategic HR framework in DepEd, the Civil
Service Commision PRIME-HR, the DepEd RSPI processes, professional learning community and human resource planning and strategy.

II. Vision/Mission

Vision:
A leading institution of learning in northern Philippines geared towards attaining excellence and global relevance.

III. Program Learning Outcomes

The Master of Arts in Education is committed to develop teachers who will be experts in their major fields as well as competent
administrators who will share their expertise in addressing local and national concerns arising in the workplace.

Specifically, the program will help the student to:

1. develop the students’ skill in research as these apply to basic management problems and issues;
2. provide the students with basic management tools that will enhance their capabilities in managing educational
institutions as well as concerns;
3. recognize and appreciate the interaction and independence among the various sectors of society in the development and
implementation of common goals; and
4. enrich educational leadership skills, knowledge and capabilities of school principals.

IV. Course Learning Outcomes

At the end of the trimester, the students are expected to:


1. equip school heads and future school heads with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to effectively fulfill
the responsibilities of school principal.
2. set out clear expectations of school heads along well-defined career stages of professional development from beginning
to exemplary practice;
3. engage school heads to actively embrace a continuing effort to attain high levels of proficiency; and
4. provide support for professional learning and development, help identify development needs and facilitate uniform
assessment of performance.

1. Make sure you are officially enrolled in this class.


2. All Long Examinations such as the Final Examination will be administered on the scheduled date given by the Registrar. Make-up
examinations could be arranged with the instructor.
3. Students are expected to respect the time of other people. Hence, if consultation with the instructor beyond the specified consultation
hours is necessary, please make an appointment. In addition, report to your instructor on time when having a special examination.
4. Attendance will be checked. In case of absences due to valid reasons, please make an excuse letter when reporting back to class. Please
be mindful of the existing University Policy on the number of allowed absences.
5. Please come to class on time.
6. Always submit your course requirements and assignments on time.
7. Academic honesty is valued in this course. As teachers, display this trait when you write your papers. Always cite your sources and give
credit to whom is due. Plagiarism and cheating during examinations will not be tolerated.
8. Observe ethical standards when conducting research.
9. Active participation in classroom discussions is highly encouraged.
10. To show courtesy to others, please set your mobile phones and other electronic gadgets to “silent mode” during class. Please step outside
the classroom when accepting urgent calls or text messages.
