*RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES are those activities done during free time for enjoyment.

Types of recreational Activities

1. Social recreation - includes social dancing, attending parties, joining parlor games, and others

2. Cultural recreation – includes activities such as doing arts and crafts, joining glee clubs, dramatic
guild, dance troupe, and others.

3. Intellectual recreation – includes song poetry, jingle, short story writing, internet surfing, answering
puzzle, playing scrabble, playing chess and other board games.

4. Physical recreation -helps develop your physical aspect.

*Indoor activities are carried out inside a space. They are limited to the conditions of the place where
they are held, to the number of people participating in the activities, among other factors.

*Outdoor activities are carried out in an outdoor space. It can be a green space on a property or in
contact with nature. When carried out abroad, activities can become more interesting for the whole
team.

*Table tennis was known first as gossima, indoor tennis, whiff-whaff, and ping-pong.

*It is originated from England 1890.

*International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) was formed in Berlin, East Germany.

*In the Philippines, Table Tennis Association of the Philippines (TATAP) was organized to manage local
games.

*The 1980s introduced table tennis, also known as Ping-pong a popular individual and dual sport.

* Recreation is derived from the Latin word recreare which means to be refreshed.

* The outdoors in a broad sense is a space outside an enclosed area.

BENEFITS OF OUTDOOR RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES

1. PHYSICAL HEALTH BENEFITS- Being outdoors prevents a person from having a sedentary life. It
allows people to move, whether by walking, running, swimming, biking, paddling, or etch. It
helps people to be on the move. It gets their hearts pumping and their bigger muscles at work.\
2. PSYCHO-EMOTIONAL BENEFITS- Engaging in outdoor recreational activities helps people to rest,
relax, de-stress or unwind, and feel revitalized.
3. SOCIAL BENEFITS- outdoor activities are ways for families to become closer. They can be a
“family-bonding activity” as each family member participates in an activity, achieves a common
goal, and goes through the same experience.
4. ECONOMIC BENEFITS- “It’s more fun in the Philippines”, as the Department of Tourism slogan
goes. Indeed, it is more fun as well for everyone involved in ecotourism activities in the
Philippines.
5. SPIRITUAL BENEFITS- positive outdoor experiences can stir up spiritual values. Being one with
nature brings certain calmness within a person. It strengthens an individual as it heals,
rejuvenates, and soothes the body and soul.

 First Aid- It is initial assistance of treatment given to a casualty for any injury or sudden illness
before the arrival of an ambulance, doctor, or medical professionals.
 First Aider- It refers to someone who has completed a course of theoretical and practical
instruction and passed a professionally supervised examination.
 Cardiopulmonary resuscitation- It is a lifesaving technique useful in many emergencies,
including a heart attack or near drowning, in which someone's breathing or heartbeat has
stopped
 Adhesive Compress-It is also called adhesive strips, is used for small wounds.
 Sterile gauze pads- It is made from sheets folded gauze this comes from different size.
 Bandage- It is a strip of material used to bind a wound or to protect an injured part of the body.
 Dressings- This are pads of gauze or cloth that can be placed directly against the wound to
absorb blood and other fluids.
 30- Compressions are needed in a CPR
 Panic- It is the worst enemy of any emergency.
 Danger-The possibility of suffering harm or injury.
