Assignment 1 and 2

Name: viral gajera

Enrollment No: 92000103080

Co1: Understand the voltage current characteristics and operation of semiconductor devices,
circuits and operational amplifier.

Co4: Analyse the behaviour of Electronics circuits containing Semiconductor device, Operational
Amplifier & Verify using Modern tools (Multisim).

Outcome: Students will be able to,

1. Understand working of Function generator, CRO, Multimeter.

2. Learn about circuit making using multisim software

Task 1:
Apply 10 V P-P sine wave, 1 KHz frequency using function generator and observe on CRO, calculate
Peak to Peak voltage and time to complete a cycle (calibrate time and voltage low)
Maximum Voltage Vmax = 4.992

Minimum voltage Vmin = -4.992

Peak to peak voltage Vp = 9.983

Time to complete cycle = time period T = 1 ms

Frequency = 1 kHz

Task 2:
Apply 50mV maximum/peak triangular wave, 100 Hz frequency using function generator and
observe on CRO, calculate Peak to Peak voltage and time to complete a cycle ( calibrate time and
voltage low).

Triangular waveform

Maximum voltage Vmax = 50 mv

Peak to peak voltage Vp = 100 mv

Time to complete cycle = time period = 10 ms

Frequency = 100 Hz
Task 3:
Apply 14 V P-P square wave, 10KHz frequency using function generator and observe on CRO,
calculate Peak to Peak voltage and time to complete a cycle (calibrate time and voltage low).

Square waveform

Maximum voltage Vmax = 7 v

Peak to peak voltage Vp = 14 v

Time to complete cycle = Time period = 100 us

Frequency = 10000 Hz
Task 4: Apply 5 V P-P sine wave, 1MHz frequency using function generator and observe on CRO,
calculate Peak to Peak voltage and time to complete a cycle (calibrate time and voltage low).

Maximum voltage Vmax = 2.5 v

Peak to peak voltage = 5 v
Time to complete cycle = Time period = 1 us
Frequency = 1 MHz
Task 5: Apply 1KHz, 2 V peak to peak sine wave to CRO and observe the effect of x-pos, y-pos, GD,
invert nobe of CRO.

Maximum voltage Vmax = 1 v

Peak to peak voltage = 2v

Frequency = 1 kHz

X-POS:

Its shifts x (time) position of graph. As we increase x pos , graph shifts toward right and vice
versa.

Y-POS:

Its shifts y (amplitude) position of graph. As we increase y pos , graph shifts toward up and
vice versa.

GD:

Ground acts like reference of circuit. Ground voltage Vg = 0 v.

Invert nobe CRO:

As we invert nobe, graph reflect about x axis.

Task 6: Using Function generator
1. Apply 10KHz, 2 V peak to peak sine wave to channel 1 of CRO

2. Apply 4 V, Peak to peak triangular wave 100 Hz to channel 2 of CRO. Observe the effect of

channel 1 / channel 2 and dual switch.

Task 7: Observe basic functions of multimeter.

Multimeter can use as both ammeter and voltmeter. In series connection it acts like ammeter and
parallel connection its acts like voltmeter. We also measure resistance in multimeter.
Conclusion:

Using multisim we can easily make any circuit containing battery, multimeter, resistor,
diode, transistor etc. we can also observe characteristic graph using oscilloscope.
