g) Write the pros and cons of negative feedback introduced in amplifiers. [2]
h) An amplifier has a midband gain of 125 and a bandwidth of 250KHz. If 4% negative
feedback is introduced, find the new bandwidth and gain. [3]

i) What is the use of the heat sink in power amplifiers? [2]


j) Define Q-Factor in tuned amplifiers. Describe what is meant by loaded and unloaded Q.

2.a) In a single stage CB – amplifier circuit, RE = 20K, Rc = 10K, VEE = -20V, Vcc = 20V,
RL = 10K. Find out Ri, Ro, Ai, Av and power gain in dB.

b) Draw the circuit of two stage R-C coupled JFET amplifier and explain its working.

3.a) For a single stage transistor amplifier, RS = 200Ω and RL= 5K . The h-parameter values

are hfb = - 0.98, hib =21 Ω, hrb = 2.9 × 10-4, hob = 0.49 µA/V. Find AI, AV, AVS, Ri, and
Ro for the CB transistor configuration.
b) When 2-stages of identical amplifiers are cascaded, obtain the expressions for overall

voltage gain, current gain and power gain. [5+5]


4.a) In hybrid ‘Pi’ model of a transistor at high frequencies, show that the gm is proportional
to collector current.
b) The hybrid- Π parameters of the transistor used in the circuit shown in figure below are
gm = 50 mA/V, rb′e = 1 KΩ, rb′c = 4 MΩ, rce = 80 KΩ, Cc = 3 pF, Ce = 100 pF and
rbb′ = 100 Ω, find (i) upper 3 dB frequency of current gain (ii) the Magnitude of voltage
gain at Avs = Vo/Vs at frequency of part (i). [4+6]

5.a) Derive the expression for the CE short circuit current gain Ai as a function of frequency
using Hybrid - π model.

b) For a single stage CE amplifier, at what value of Rs will give 3 dB frequency fH, which
is half the value obtained with Rs = 0. Hybrid ‘Π’ parameters are: gm= 50 mA/V,
rbb′ = 100Ω, rb′e=1 K, CC = 3 pF, Ce = 100 pF. [5+5]

amplifiers increases amplifier bandwidth and reduces distortion in amplifiers?
b) In a transistorized Hartley oscillator, the two inductances are 2mH and 20μH while the
frequency is to be changed from 950KHZ to 2050KHZ. Calculate the range over which the

9.a) Show that for a current series feedback amplifier the input and output resistances are

increased by a factor of (1+Aβ) with feedback.


b) Explain Crystal oscillator. Mention the features and advantages of it. [5+5]

10.a) Derive the equation for maximum efficiency of a class A transformer coupled amplifier.
b) Draw the circuit of double-tuned transformer-coupled amplifier. Discuss the nature of
responses of the amplifier for different values of KQ=1; KQ>1 and KQ<1. [5+5]

11.a) Draw the circuit diagram of class B push pull amplifier and explain its operation. Also
prove that its conversion efficiency is 78.5% .
b) Discuss in detail about frequency response of tuned amplifiers. [5+5]
