WHAT IS CLOUND COMPUTING ?

Cloud computing technology gives users access to

storage, files, software, and servers through
their internet-connected devices: computers,
smartphones, tablets, and wearables. Cloud
computing providers store and process data in a
location that’s separate from end users.

Essentially, cloud computing means having the
ability to store and access data and programs
over the internet instead of on a hard drive.
OR
We can say that the cloud is a virtual space
that exists on the internet. It is a storage
space where people can place their digital
resources such as software, applications and
files.

EXAMPLES OF THE CLOUD
TECHNOLOGY

Everyday examples of the cloud include:

 Emails – Since they’re stored with your email
provider.
 Google docs – Since your files are stored on
Google’s servers.
 Dropbox – Since your files are stored with
Dropbox.
Arguably, social media platforms are an example
of cloud computing as well, since you can upload
photos, videos, calendars etc. and then keep
them stored on their servers instead of your own.

GOOGLE DOCS
DROPBOX
 Google Drive
 Facebook
 Google Classroom
 Youtube : which has no shortage of videos
that aim to teach viewers about how cloud
computing works.
 etc.
HOW CLOUD COMPUTING
WORKS?
 DIFFERENT TYPES OF CLOUD
DEPLOYMENTS
The most common cloud deployments are:
 Private cloud: A private cloud is typically
infrastructure used by a single organization. Such
infrastructure may be managed by the
organization itself to support various user groups,
or it could be managed by a service provider that
takes care of it either on-site or off-site.
 Public cloud: As the name suggests, this type
of cloud deployment model supports all users
who want to make use of a computing resource.
Unlike a private cloud, public clouds are shared
by multiple organizations.

 Hybrid cloud: Hybrid cloud deployments
combine public and private clouds. An organization
may use their private cloud for some services and
their public cloud for others, or they may use the
public cloud as backup for their private cloud.

 Community cloud: This deployment model

supports multiple organizations sharing computing
resources that are part of a community; examples
include universities cooperating in certain areas of
research, or police departments within a county or
state sharing computing resources.
 DIFFERENT
TYPES OF CLOUD
COMPUTING SERVICES
 Iaas(Infrastructure as a service):
In this type of service, the computing power, storage,
software, network power of the cloud and the rest of
the control is with the user. This service is basically
used for business. The biggest example of this is VPS
i.e. Virtual Private Server. In which you get software
and network as well as computing power.

 Paas(Platform as a service):
In Paas the user gets only one platform. In which
there can be either storage or computing power, in
which you do not control things comletely, only cloud
providers can control them.
For example: Gmail

 Saas(Software as a service):

In Saas you get only one software hosted on a remote

server which is used for certain work. These types of
services are mostly used by small businesses. This
types of service can contain any kind of software
such as Google Docs Online , etc.
BENEFITS OF CLOUD
TECHNOLOGY

 Reduced IT costs
 Large Storage
 Ease of Data access
 Large Processing Power
 Instant Software Updates
 Device independence
DISADVANTAGES OF CLOUD
COMPUTING
 Internet connection required
 High speed internet connection
 Privacy
