Imagine waking up to the deafening roar of explosions, your tent shaking violently as the earth trembles beneath you. In an instant, everything is chaosโ€”your children scream in terror, clutching onto you as you scramble to escape. The sky is filled with smoke and falling debris, the air thick with dust and panic. There is no time to think, no time to gather what little you have left. You runโ€”barefoot, desperate, carrying your baby in your armsโ€”praying that you will make it out alive.

Images: Hossam sent us images of what his family's tent looks like today after violent airstrikes in Gaza last night (03/17/2025).
Video: to further prove the validity of Hossam's story, we have included an Al Jazeera news report that Hossam sent to us, in which he briefly appears (at the 0:48 mark)

Story written by @rumiandroses

For Hossam Al-Qazzaz and his family, this nightmare became reality LAST NIGHT (03/17/2025) when an airstrike obliterated their tentโ€”their last refuge after losing their home, a casualty of the war in Gaza. With no shelter, no safety, and nowhere left to run, they are once again plunged into unimaginable uncertainty as the ceasefire in Gaza collapses and war reignites around them.

Hossam, a dedicated father of four, has already lost his home, his job, and his peace of mind due to the relentless bombardments in Gaza in the 15 months preceding the now,-collapsed ceasefire. Now, with nothing but debris around them, he, his wife Hanan, and their four childrenโ€”Bashar (9), Hani (8), Diana (4), and 5-month-old Habibaโ€”are now struggling to survive with no roof over their heads.

The suffering extends beyond Hossam, his wife, and his children. Hossam is also the sole caretaker of his elderly parents, aged 75 and 72, both in fragile health. His father is suffering from severe burns and urgently needs medical care, while his mother battles high blood pressure and requires constant attention. But with no home, no stable source of income, and skyrocketing prices for essentials like rice and cooking gasโ€”driven by the border closures and the ban on goods entering Gazaโ€”Hossam is trapped in an incredibly difficult and stressful situation.

Despite these unbearable challenges, Hossam is not asking for muchโ€”only the money needed to survive, and to be able to evacuate to safety when the border crossing opens again.

"All we want is to live in dignity," Hossam pleads.

This is where you can make a difference. Every small donationโ€”no matter how modestโ€”can help provide food, clothing, and medical care for Hossam, Hanan, their children, and elderly parents. It can help ensure that Habiba gets the milk and diapers she desperately needs and that his family is not left out in the open with nowhere to turn.

Please, if you can, donate or share Hossamโ€™s story today. Your support can be the difference between survival and despair.

Please consider donating to the Al-Qazzaz familyโ€™s original fundraiser to help them buy food and essentials and rebuild their tent:

Our founder, Bethany-Grace ( @rumiandroses ) is also sponsoring a fundraising campaign to help Hossam, Hanan and their entire family evacuate to safety. If everyone donates a little, we might be able to get them to safety the moment the border crossing opens again:

Together, we can ensure that Hossam's family does not just surviveโ€”but begins to rebuild a life of safety, stability, and hope.

Hossamโ€™s campaign has been vetted by @gazavetters, and (#287) on their list of verified campaigns.

Video: Hossam Al-Qazzaz has recently given us a glimpse of a day in the life of his family through a video he sent to us, featuring his infant daughter Habiba, son Bashar, and other daughter Diana. Despite their living conditions, Hossam does his best to keep his children's spirits high.

Story written by @rumiandroses

Imagine being born into a world where the first sounds you hear are explosions, the hum of drones, and the cries of your family fleeing for their lives. This is the reality for Habiba Al-Qazzaz, a precious baby girl who has known nothing but war, displacement, and hunger in her short life. Born in Gaza amidst the ongoing conflict that began on October 7, 2023, Habiba has spent much of her existence so far in uncertainty, hunger, and fear.

This precious little girl is not even a year old, and already, she has suffered through unimaginable hardship.

Her parents, Hossam and Hanan Al-Qazzaz, are doing everything they can to care for Habiba and her three siblingsโ€”Bashar (9), Hani (8), and Diana (4). But the relentless devastation of Gazaโ€™s infrastructure has made survival nearly impossible. With no stable income and essential supplies priced beyond reach, the Al-Qazzaz family is fighting a daily battle just to keep their children warm, fed, and safe.

Their GoFundMe campaign has been their only lifeline, allowing them to afford the most basic necessitiesโ€”food, water, milk for Habiba. Yet despite the thousands of people who have seen and shared their plea, donations have been coming in at a painfully slow pace. Since last year, they have managed to raise only โ‚ฌ2,000, an amount tragically short of their โ‚ฌ55,000 goalโ€”the sum they had hoped would allow them to evacuate to Egypt with Hossamโ€™s elderly parents and start anew.

Forced to Live on Top of Rubble

Images: (Top) Bashar, Hani, and Diana, still able to smile in spite of the devastation they've been forced to endure. (Bottom) Hossam Al-Qazzaz, as he does his best to clear their destroyed home of debris to make it slightly more suitable for habitation.

As time passed and donations fell short, the family was forced to abandon their dreams of escape. Instead, they now live atop the ruins of their destroyed home, sheltered only by a fragile tent that does little to protect them from the cold, roaming animals, or the ever-present danger of violence. Their reality is bleak, and their options are running out.

On February 8, 2025, Hanan reached out to us with an update on her family's condition:

Image: Hanan's update message to us, informing us of her family's current condition.

The freezing temperatures persist. Her children are crying for warmth in a shelter that provides no protection from the elements.

This is Not a Call for Comfortโ€”Itโ€™s a Plea for Survival!

The Al-Qazzaz family is NOT asking for luxuries. They are asking for the bare minimum:

๐Ÿงค๐ŸงฃWarmth for their children.

๐Ÿž๐Ÿ’ง Food and clean water.

๐Ÿ ๐ŸšชA secure shelter.

With further violence looming, the time to act is NOW.

A Family of Resilience and Kindness

Hossam Al-Qazzaz is also the cousin of Falestine Asad, another courageous individual struggling to keep her infant child safe in war-torn Gaza. Both Hossam and Falestine are some of the kindest and humblest people you will ever meet. If you can, we encourage you to view and share both of their campaigns, and to donate if possible.

Together, we can help the Al-Qazzaz family find the security, warmth, and stability they so desperately need.

No child should have to suffer like these poor babies have.

Letโ€™s all be part of the reason they make it through another day, and into a brighter, more peaceful future. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ’—

Save my father please โ€ผ๏ธ๐Ÿšจ

My friend, don't make me say goodbye to my father. ๐Ÿ˜ญ The only thing left of my family. A month and a half ago, I lost my mother, who was taking her last breaths. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’” I don't want my father to let his last breaths be in front of my eyes, just like I lost my mother. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ When I lost my mother, I had no choice, and now I have no choice but to lose my father. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ I don't want my father to die. My friend, please, I am begging you. Can you imagine what it means to my father and the pain inside me? Can you imagine the life I am living? My friend, your donation will save the life of a human being like us, just like each other. We must help each other, my friend.

Can you imagine my father's life shattered and trapped between death or life, just a number on a piece of paper, and my father needs your donation to save his life? ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

I haven't slept for days because of the conditions of saving my father. I see my father at the door of intensive care surrounded by machines and wires. My eyes are tearing up because I can't save my father and he is breathing with difficulty. I am afraid. Will this be my last day? ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Will my life become dark after my father's departure? ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’” Will I continue to imagine my father in front of my eyes during his departure? ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ Imagine? Imagine?

When I hold my father's hand, I feel warmth and tenderness because there is no one in my family but my father, and I lost my sisters and everyone who cares about me, but my father is in danger and his last hours could be in a few minutes, my friend, donate when you see this, please, please, the matter is urgent ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I don't ask much from you. I just want my father to live and be my support. I want him to hug me and feel his warmth and tenderness and make up for the loss of my family.๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

It's the End my friend

Israel occupied Palestinian Rafah 2 days ago and began the second phase of the displacement plan. The Israeli army is besieging Palestinians in the Al-Nawasi area, southwest of the Gaza Strip, near the coastline

Why on Earth should our children live their life in that horrible situation? Why on Earth should the children be killed in vain ?

I'm tired of asking you for help. It's difficult. But I will keep asking you to do something for us, to help me and my family because I have no choice but trusting in you and in your generosity.

Please, donate for us here to be able to get out of Gaza

Rafah was displaced and homes were demolished over the heads of its residents. What more do you want?

We are being slaughtered by missiles every day. Consider that we are animals, not humans. Support us, stand with us, and stand with us. We deserve a decent life. No food. We are in a famine. Drinking is not good.

We will leave the homeland and we will remain. This is your worst nightmare. Defend us, support us, and have mercy on us. We deserve life and peace. We do not want to die. It is all over. Donate please ๐Ÿฅบ

On the seventh of October I am teacher Mahmoud Atta. I work as a teacher teaching secondary school students.

On October 7th, I was getting ready to go to school. On October 7th, while I was getting ready to go to school, my life was completely turned upside down. Israel declared war on Gaza. After that, they announced their entry into the roads and cities and forced us to leave the city from Khan Yunis to Rafah

.

We passed through a road called the Road of Death. Tanks were everywhere. Bullets were raining down. We passed through a road called the Road of Death. Tanks were everywhere. Bullets were raining down. If you survived, your brother would not.

We've all seen the end of the world movies on the big screen. We have all seen end of the world movies on cinema screens, but what we saw was real and not imaginary. I wish it was imaginary.

We finally arrived in Rafah Finally we arrived in Rafah, the safe city as it is called, but where to go? The sea is behind us, the weather is freezing, and the borders are closed with Egypt on the other side and Israel on the third and fourth sides. I found myself making a tent out of nylon for myself and my family.

No water, no electricity, no food, no place to go to the bathroom, no life. I wish I had died sooner.

We returned after a long time to our city. After a long time, we returned to our city. The first sight was that a giant monster had entered the city and left it in ruins, so much so that I did not recognize my house or my neighborhood. Oh my God, is this Khan Yunis?

fI searched to find my home, to find my apartment, which contained my memories and my most beautiful days, destroyed. I searched to find my home, to find my apartment, which contained my memories and my most beautiful days, destroyed.

Today I stand before you to search for Today I stand in your hands to search for any help to restore myself again thanks to you.. I am waiting for your help

ethics of making AI images aside, I do find a bit amusing the kinds of sob stories and mental gymnastics people make up to pretend like drawing is this super technical skill with an impossibly high barrier of entry when its like one of the first hobbies toddlers pick up

suddenly a lot of people think they got the next Lord of the Rings in their head but they were never able to turn their stories into anything tangible because the evil elitist artists are hogging all the talent and skill and they need a bajilion years of training or something as if one of the most popular manga and anime of the past decade wasn't made by a guy that draws like this

The people who say shit like "I don't dream about labour" when asked about their dream job make me sad. It's not their fault and it's an obvious conclusion to come to in the environment that we live in, but they really do seem to make no difference between work, and being exploited. You do want to work, it is inherent human nature to want to do things, you just don't want to slave for shit wages while making profit for someone else.

If art wasn't an option and I didn't have to worry about being profitable, I know what I would be doing: Keep a little shop selling secondhand-thirdhand buttons and buckles.

Thrift shops and secondhand stores could dump (or sell, whatever) their unsold and unwanted goods to me, and I could spend all day going through the heaps and picking them apart, plucking the still-perfectly-good buttons, zippers and buckles out of discarded things with threadbare fabrics and sell them.

Probably also making those little trinket storage boxes out of hollowed-out books. By hollowing out books that nobody wanted or read.

Share, donate, help us survive. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธโค๏ธ

In a corner of Gaza, my family and I are drowning in destruction, with the echoes of suffering surrounding us. I sat beside my modest tent, hastily erected after losing my home in the latest bombing. The faces of my family tell stories of patience and resilience, with lines of time etched upon them, as if they were records of unforgettable events. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธโณ๐Ÿ‰

I once lived in a small home, filled with the laughter and voices of my children. Today, I have become a witness to the agony of displacement. The bombing forced me to flee with my children after a shell struck our home, leaving behind years of memories and simple belongings I never imagined would become unreachable. ๐Ÿš๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ

Every morning, I leave my tent and go to work, using a clay oven to provide food for my children. Meanwhile, my youngest son heads to the charity kitchens that offer aid, waiting for long hours under Gazaโ€™s scorching sun. Despite the exhaustion that weighs down his frail body, he carries the food mixed with his tears and returns with a fake smile, hiding behind it the burdens of his struggles. ๐Ÿž๐Ÿฅ€

At night, when everyone else is asleep, I remain seated at the entrance of my tent, gazing at the dark sky, reminiscing about days gone byโ€ฆ about my home that was once filled with warmth. Yet, I still find remnants of hope in my heartโ€”a hope that one day peace will return, and my children and I will live in a new home, filled with joy. ๐ŸŒ™๐Ÿกโœจ

In moments of solitude, I find peace in prayer and supplication. I plead to God to protect Gaza and its people, to wipe away the dust of sorrow from our hearts. I always repeat๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‰๐ŸŒฟ
"We are here to remind the world that we are stronger than war, and we will rebuild our lives anew, no matter the cost!" ๐Ÿ™
