today, together with lovely friend of mine @babystaeguk we discovered a person on tiktok named @drunkwithtae who uses TONS of gifs from tumblr (from both boygroups and girlgroups) to make edits/videos, they put filter over it, add music and claim it as their own work gaining thousands, THOUSANDS of likes.
After a bit of research i'm 100% sure by now that each edit they posted contains downloaded gif (either from tumblr or twitter) that was simply someone else's work. I found a bunch of my own gifs, but since I'm on tumblr for a long time and I know my mutuals' style, coloring and all that jazz, I can see how many gifs are included in those edits that i'm absolutely sure i have seen before, I can even name their owners. Some of the gifs are newer, some of them older, time range is huge and amount of stolen gifs is also big and i can't recognize everything by myslef but Mary did research by herself when i couldn't, and already contacted above 10 content creators about possible usage of their work.
Below i attach one of their edits where major part of the video contains of my gifs only, and the rest of it is bunch of gifs of other creators from tumblr.
Basing on this video only we can see how much of stolen content is there and i'm sure none of us is okay with it so PLEASE share this post so more people can see it, PLEASE GO, CHECK THEIR EDITS AND LOOK FOR YOUR GIFS. we need to contact that person and make it stop.
everyone, please respect people who put their souls, heart and hours of their private time into making content, don't steal, don't edit, don't claim things that aren't yours!
they just replied to me with an apology and i can not see their tiktok anymore. maybe its deactivated right now? they apparently got everything from pinterest which is still not cool since they did not make them anyway.
even newer update: please contact the person if you see your gifs. i told them now that i bet a lot would prefer if it gets taken down alltogether.
