Im sorry but it is so funny how people outside of tumblr view us. Like why are the tiktokers treating tumblr like some professional ass website you need to do extensive prep before you begin posting on. And the follower farming advice is so fucking funny to me when this is the website where people actively hate getting new followers

on reddit if you say arthur dayne was anything less than the greatest knight who ever lived, they kill you and dismember you

i just dont understand the mindset of people who actually think arthur is everything jaime and barristan and ned and joncon say he is. this people are the old guard of westeros. this is the system of feudal logic which has become old and calcified and hollowed, rotting from the inside while the Others build up at the edge of the world. the thrusting point of the whole series is that their logic of the world must be deconstructed for true justice to exist--to make way for jon and dany and brienne and arya, and all the people who reject the old way that things are done. jaime (and tyrion, though this post isnt about him) is on the threshold between the old and the new orders; at the start of the series he looks up to arthur as the symbol of what a knight should be. but deep down, in a part he wont admit even to himself, he is disenchanted with arthur and gerold hightower and all his heroes, because he knows their notion of knighthood is deeply sick. they stood by while their king burned rickard. they stood by while their king raped rhaella.

arthur being a hollow knight is fundamental to understanding jaime as a character. because only when he realizes this can he understand that true image of what a knight should be has been in front of him this whole time: brienne. i dreamed of you.

what do you think about the idea of the main 5?

well i don't care what anyone's preferred way to engage with the series is, like, if you're mainly interested in those five characters (and are these bran enthusiasts in the room with us right now) that's fine. it's true there are certain characters that come close to occupying the narrative space of a protagonist within the series (bran, dany, and jon obvs) but i also don't care much for talk of them as the only ones that matter. how grrm outlined his original notes is not of any concern to me, i'm only engaging with the text. and the way i see it those 20+ povs are not meant to be extraneous or tangential to the larger plot, which supposedly centres around five characters. they are all intended to be in conversation with each other and with series themes at large. a question raised in davos's chapter ("If half an onion is black with rot, it is a rotten onion. A man is either good or he evil") may be answered in sam's ("When Craster's wives brought onions, he seized one eagerly. One side was black with rot, but he cut that part off with his dagger and ate the good half raw.") and then bran's chapters ("If ice can burn then love and hate can mate."—the series is about dualism, not absolutes) and claiming otherwise is doing bit of a disservice to grrm's storytelling capabilities, no?

i saw some comments on tiktok where people were talking bout how they found tumblr too hard to use and part of it being that there was no lack of dates so “what if you reblog or like something from five years ago?!”

buddy… we have posts circulating still from 2011, its literally just how it is

Being on tumblr for years like:

*looks at date*

Hm 2021

Checks out

Earliest one I’ve seen circulating was 2008… pretty sure the blog was still active even tho when I checked it hadn’t been updated since like 2014…

its either from 2 seconds ago or 16 years ago and older than a good chunk of people on here
