Archeron sisters are perfect example on difference between being kind and being nice.
Nesta is kind, but she's not nice
Elain is nice, but not kind
And Feyre is neither
Honestly, the most romantic line out of acosf is Eris’ “My offer was sincere”
Like damn, that always gives me Darcy hand flex feelings
feyre’s love interests with her sisters comparison is funny ngl
tamlin gives the sisters- the archeron family money and helps them thrive back in society without putting them in danger -the most danger he caused was have nesta go crazy about feyre and trying to go to the wall for feyre
rhysand gives the sisters money but holds it over their head as his money, tells them how to live in the society and constantly puts them in danger -got them taken by hybern king, turned into fae, forced into war, their father died and all that trauma he refuses to feel for- and still they don’t get paid or have free will to do as they please
who fought hard to save nesta and elain when hybern king was forcing them into the cauldron? tamlin. not rhysand, the most powerful high lord
fuck it, i’ll say it: tamlin rules, rhysand drools (bc he’s desperate for another taste of tamlin’s dick)
elain does not get enough lashings for nesta’s treatment
like feyre, elain isn’t naive or oblivious -funny how sisters are always called that to dismiss their treatment of nesta
elain has taken advantage of nesta’s protectiveness and used it to hurt nesta back
elain knows nesta will do anything if it means she won’t be dragged into it, that’s why ic is like do it or it’s elain and elain doesn’t stop them
elain pushes nesta and brings up their father despite nesta telling her to stop and when nesta has had enough, she makes herself the victim and says nesta isn’t trying? oh poor elain crying cause of her big sister. fuck u
elain was in on nesta getting locked up, yeah she didn’t have a vote, she did take part in it by going with it and against nesta instead for once fighting for nesta’s rights like nesta always fought for hers
when elain was mourning her human life, who was by her side? nesta
who put aside her own problems, her own trauma for elain and to look after her? nesta. feyre was too busy destroying another court over a petty revenge and when she came back she was busy with her mate
who let elain mourn and take her time? nesta. feyre was okay with them being forced into war
but who’s side does elain take?
the audacity of elain to come back in nesta’s life when nesta is “better” and everything is okay lool
elain fits perfectly well in inner circle
elain told ic about nesta’s dancing, which is connected to nesta’s childhood trauma and abuse she went through -i’d argue it wasn’t elain’s place to talk about it, about nesta especially to ic knowing nesta does not fuck with them- and ic used that info and made nesta do it again
elain is complicit in nesta’s abuse
repeat after me: just because a man is seen to be a good, kind person by people, his family, does not mean he can’t be terrible or abusive to someone else
cassian is seen as a good person by feyre, by inner circle, they see him as a “good, kind hearted male” when;
cassian has constantly invaded nesta’s boundaries and harassed her
cassian has constantly refused to listen to nesta’s wants and needs
cassian has constantly stalked nesta and been possessive over her
cassian has constantly pushed nesta’s buttons
cassian has constantly said nasty stuff to nesta
cassian constantly reminds nesta of things he believes are her wrongdoing
cassian has constantly pushed nesta to her breaking point
cassian has constantly made what happened to or what nesta does about himself
cassian has constantly tried to make nesta do things she doesn’t want nor asked about nor consent to
cassian has constantly let nesta down
but it’s poor cassian, right? nesta was mean to him, didn’t accept his gift and broke his heart🥺
“nesta does not deserve cassian” and that i agree with, because these people are right, she does not
she deserves better
why is it okay for nesta to apologise to cassian for her having boundaries?
why is it okay for nesta to be gaslighted into believing she was in wrong?
why is it okay for nesta to think she has to earn cassian and others love after being with him?
what about cassian sexualising her when she was unhealthy?
where does cassian having sex with nesta while being her main caretaker for her recover from drinking, fucking and her trauma and her being a vulnerable emotional state come into this? it’s called taking an advantage
how is nessian not an abusive relationship?
nesta deserves a better mate, a good partner and a healthy romantic relationship where she can feel safe and be truly happy
like she has with valkyries
but it’s never going to happen with cassian bc cassian does not love nesta, he does not even like her for who she is nor sees her as her own person -like inner circle
inner circle as a whole are abusive towards nesta
cassian loves the idea of nesta, a strong proud queen, and having a mate for “someone like him” (his words, not mine) aka he has a lot of unresolved issues and he projects them onto nesta
nesta was abused as a child, then neglected and let down by her father, then sa again and again (tomas, the cauldron, etc) and now is in a toxic environment, forced to be apart of a toxic family where no one actually is there for her and is stuck with a man who does not actually love her
free her!
to summarise: cassian may be a good, kind and perfect male in the eyes of his family, but he is abusive towards nesta. men like that exist IRL
Gosh are people honestly ok with feyre as a character ? She’s that stupid friend who when she gets on a relationship she ditches her friends but when she isn’t she comes back like nothing ever happened and as an author is sjm thinks Feyre is a strong FMC then she’s lying to herself. She never saved prythian she saved Tamlin.. A MALE/ MAN. Hence forth she did EVERYTHING for Rhysand. All her actions her decisions were based on getting back to a MALE/MAN. She has no friends whatsoever. She got her own engagement ring and other women think it’s cool. Hell she burnt a whole court down without empathy for a male.
And this bitch had the gall to tell Rhys that she fell in love with the first person who showed her kindness… bitch you turned around and did the same thing except this one manipulated you too…🤣 what?
Mind you a women wrote this book. For women by women… this is so sad. So many books have follow suite after ACOTAR. I get it we love these males we create but I’d rather us being worshiped than doing things for a man. Many do it in reality we don’t need the same in our fantasies. Ladies wake up. This is bs…
People writing feyre fic get your act straight. STOP MAKING HER WRITE. If Feyre ever takes notes, she would be doodling.
feyre, who famously painted a cabin that wasn’t hers? who always talks about what she would paint?? who immediately complained about having to do correspondence when it was the literal only duty she had as high lady???
and people say nesta and tamlin defenders lack reading comprehension skills 🙄🙄🙄
This is what I wanted to see at ACOMAF. If I didn't get it in the books, I'll damn well do it myself.
By the way, have you noticed that very few people in this fandom pay attention to OT3? That's very unfair.
this fr
Cunty Rhysand, we hardly knew ye
This isn’t aimed at any one creator, but just a trend I’ve noticed, especially with the holiday art.
Often when all three of the sisters are drawn in ACOTAR art, I’m seeing both Elain and Feyre in the softest, most cottage core dresses/sweaters ever designed, and Nesta is in the sluttiest, high slit line, low neckline, titties out dress you’ve ever seen.
Words cannot tell you how much this infuriates me. Nesta, the one character whose modesty was SO FUCKING IMPORTANT TO HER. Nesta, who feels uncomfortable baring herself in such a way in any social setting. Nesta, the only sister described to have a large chest and yet finds comfort in high necklines and long dresses, hiding as much of her flesh as she can, who has been repeatedly SA’d ON PAGE, over and over and over again, is the one sister who is drawn this way? Why??????? why is such a core part of her stripped away even by the fandom? Against Feyre who is apparently free and uber Girl Boss as she consistently wears the sluttiest dresses ever made? but not in the fan art, no, it’s nesta who needs to dress that way, because how else could recognize it was her?
idk it just feels gross and wrong and horrible mischaracterization of her, especially if you’re trying to show her as healed and comfortable with her family. I promise, Nesta is never happy if her tits are out in public.
Many people relate to Nesta's low self-worth and her negative self-talk which it is why the message in her book is so damaging. You do not need a man who will break you down day by day until you are tired and no longer stand up for yourself. You are worthy of love. You do not need to earn your family's love.
sjm writing the dance scene between eris and nesta, fake or not fake, is proof that she had it in her to write a good, soft romance for nesta where her and her partner have pure unparalleled chemistry that isn't based on the foundation of lust. after hofas, I hold out hope that the distasteful nature of nessians relationship was written intentionally. we give sjm a lot of shit, rightfully so, but I don't think she's entirely blind, ignorant or idiotic in what she writes.
Everyone favors Elain! And most of all Feyre.
If you want to point the finger at Nesta, don't use that argument. Don't complain about how differently Nesta treats her sisters because in reality, Feyre might be worse.
“Elain sometimes just… didn’t grasp things. It wasn’t meanness that kept her from offering to help; it simply never occurred to her that she might be capable of getting her hands dirty.” (ACOTAR, ch.2) Elain gets excuses and most importantly, is never even asked to help for anything. If Feyre is going to teach someone archery, it's going to be Nesta. She needs wood to be chopped, it's going to be Nesta.
When Lucien accompanied her back to the Night Court, he asked her about Elain and says he wants to see if she's worth fighting for. (To each their own opinion on the matter). Feyre doesn't respond but thinks so. Later on, when Cassian flies her to the House of Wind and they talk about Nesta and how he comes to see her every other day, Feyre asks : “Why do you bother, Cassian?” Elain is worth it but Nesta isn't?
When the sisters are moved to the townhouse, rooms have to be picked. “And a third for Lucien — on our side of the hall. Well away from Elain’s.” (ACOWAR, ch.24) Because Elain staying away from her mate whom she hasn't yet said she wants nothing to with is fine and perfectly understandable. But when Nesta says over and over and over again how she wants nothing to do with Cassian, she's just going to have to suck it up and be locked in a house with him.
Rhys, being true to himself, tells Feyre the bond between Elain and Lucien can be used to ensure his loyalty. “I don’t like that Elain is a pawn in this.” (Feyre in ACOWAR, ch.18) But using Nesta as a pawn to ensure another Vanserra's loyalty, though... As a matter of fact, when dancing with Eris is proposed she even says : “Elain doesn’t go near him.” (ch.55)
In ACOSF, after we learn that Elain will try to find the Trove if Nesta doesn't, Feyre says : “It wasn’t an easy choice for me to ask Elain to endanger herself like this.” (ch.21) But asking Nesta is easy, right? It's been like this forever after all. Feyre was never going to ask Elain to tell her story to the High Lords. Poor thing was depressed. But asking Nesta to put herself in the worst danger possible, even though she was destroying herself just two weeks ago, even though she si still depressed and hurting... Feyre doesn't hesitate then.
Yes, Nesta has her faults. Yes, Nesta has said mean things to her sister. But if we look at the text, at the amount of times Feyre has been unkind to her sister, you'll realize that she is much worse.
I know our fave author is a retcon queen but let's forget that for a moment.
I think the only way for Lucien to have a romance plot line that makes sense in the context of what is is with a mate. Because he already had everything else with Jesminda and the way their relationship is written implies such a strong love that not even death can break it. Why would he fall in love ever again after that?
Universe has to play a cruel joke on him so that he allows a change of heart/mind, and that joke is a mate.
So either Elucien happens OR Elucien doesn't happen so he goes insane & and gets his rightfully earned villain plotline.
hear me out: Lucien villain plotline where he joins forces with Nesta and they re-form the Dusk Court since she’s already basically persona non grata within the Night Court. then they both reject their mates and take over Prythian together 👁️👄👁️
(ACOSF, Ch. 42)
I cannot believe that this is a romance novel for a romance-novel-loving character and her love interest blows right past the threat to her (his mate) and thinks only of what she could do for his weapons stash.
LUCIEN WOULD NEVER!! LUCNES MY LOVE 😭😭😭
pirate nesta!!!
Eris is a 21yo moron and stows away on one of his father's investment ships sailing to Hybern. Its a short journey and he justs wants one TINY adventure before he gets bogged down with all his responsibilities as the heir. Well, chat, it gets attacked by pirates and Nesta discovers the most precious of cargo:
“You don’t belong here, do you?” she asked.
“No, ma’am.” he said. She tilted his hat back with the nose of her pistol to get a good look at his face.
“Not a freckle on you, you sweet thing. How long have you been out here?” She dragged the tip down his cheek. He gulped.
“This is my second day, ma’am.”
She laughed, low and husky. “Oh my. What bad luck you have. I was thinking of taking you to ransom. You look like you’ve got a rich daddy, don’t you?” she asked. He nodded. “But I don’t know if I want your bad luck on my ship.”
He cleared his throat. “One could argue that I brought you good luck, since you were successful today.”
She paused and looked at him with assessing eyes. “You’re clever, are you?”
There was a wrong answer. He just didn’t know which one it was.
“Yes, ma’am.”
