I think I will actually delete some of these older posts of mine that I no longer vibe with. It doesn't really feel like it's enough to simply say "that's old news"; I'd like to sever my connection to it. It's not just that it isn't me anymore; I don't want to see it anymore.
quick linguistic history lesson. the term “woke” originates from african american communities to describe being “awake and aware” of the current sociopolitical climate. this term has been used since at least the 1930s. it wasnt until 2014 during the ferguson protests that the term entered the wider vernacular. mainly as a result of black twitter. and as is common with many things coined by the black community. it was repeated and commercialized to death to the point where now most people only using it mockingly. including people on the left. the point is. “woke” is not a bad word. the alt right wants it to be one.

That "on-and-off conflict" is the colonization of Palestine and genocide of its inhabitants. The most consistent trend throughout this is that Israel wants to take more and more land, and you can see that in how they pick their conflicts and what they seek from them.
I tend not to focus on October 7th, because it has been greatly overblown. Or rather, the way that Israeli lives are valued relative to those of Palestinians' has caused this to be reacted to in a greatly disproportional way. And it's because of the deep-seated racism that is held for brown people, especially those in the Middle East, and especially Muslims, who have been dehumanized to the point where their literal infants are seen as acceptable casualties, and killing those infants is seen as "preventing terrorism".
The slaughter of Palestinians has long-since eclipsed anything that was done to the Israelis. Someone who values life equally cannot possibly sympathize with Israel in any of this. It is only through racism that someone can be a Zionist.

Y'know, I'll do something here: I will gladly admit that Israel has done a large, large amount of stupid, wrong things both over the decades and during this conflict, if you say the following words: "the October 7th massacre was a crime against humanity." And you can't try and negate it by immediately following with "but Israel is still worse because etc etc", no no no. I want to see you actually follow the morality you claim to espouse and denounce a massacre of civilians for no other reason than because it was a massacre of civilians. Your move.

Also, please understand that SO often the real issue these people have is that they just want to say something inappropriate. They don't like being told they can't say "fag", so they'd say it for a reaction, just like a teenager would.
Shut down the conversation without reacting.
"His dick, not mine" will get you much further to shutting that guy down than "well it's really inappropriate to call someone a slur while I'm the job site".
And that's the point. To shut them up. To make them quit saying shit like that. The first one makes him seem kinda weird for caring about what that guy does with his dick. The second one gives him something to fight against and make a big deal about.
