Crows: They’re Neat

@fun-with-colors / fun-with-colors.tumblr.com

The only true constants here are linguistics and corvids. I have a blog dedicated solely to internet linguistics called @internetlinguist
My life philosophy is to not be a jerk.

idk where all of this weed-smoke discourse erupted from, but “weed is fine and you shouldn’t be a snitch about it” and “don’t burn plant matter in public spaces where someone you don’t know might have, like, a lung condition” are two sentiments that can and do coexist. i have asthma and i hang out with stoners pretty much constantly. i’ve never felt the urge to snitch and no one has ever blatantly disrespected my avoidance of smoke. they’re always eager to help keep it away from me when needed, which isn’t difficult to do. i hate to say this, but my only takeaway from a hypothetical scenario in which a stoner is blasting weed smoke in public like a dragon and an asthmatic feels the need to involve the cops is that both individuals are unpleasant and i don’t want to be around either of them lmao

i have never met an unpsychotic person who knows what it actually means to “not encourage the delusion” …not a single one

what “don’t encourage the delusion” means:

  • don’t argue with or challenge the delusion—attempting to disprove someone’s delusions is not helpful at all and will result in that person not trusting you
  • assure the delusional person that they are safe; be open and honest at all times
  • encourage them to verbalize their feelings and offer protection to prevent injury to themselves or, possibly, others
  • start building a trusting relationship with them rather than acting on a desire to control their symptoms
  • do not confirm or feed into the delusion by asking questions about it when the person is not experiencing a psychotic episode

what it does not mean:

  • insisting to a psychotic person experiencing psychosis that what they’re experiencing isn’t real

I don’t mean to trivialize psychosis by making a weird comparison, but this guide also serves as a handy checklist for helping someone through a bad drug trip. In both cases your number one priority is to get the person through whatever they’re dealing with unharmed.

i don’t think it’s trivializing at all, nor a weird comparison—as a psychotic person who has had psychotic episodes inadvertently triggered by drug use and/or worsened while trying to self-medicate with drugs, i think this is an important addition.

Rosalinda Guillén, a farmworker and political activist in Skagit County, said Juarez is a 25-year-old farmworker and union organizer, and he was detained while driving his partner to her job in the flower fields.

“He tried to defend himself by not speaking to them and refusing to get out of the car, and they broke his car window,” Guillén told KUOW.

“He doesn’t have a criminal record, and we think that they stopped him because of his leadership, because of his activism,” Guillén added. “We’re trying to get him out.”

Them using Signal wasn't stupidity, it was done on purpose to avoid having any official records of their conversations--which is legally required. Avoiding an official record is part of Project 2025 to help them all avoid charges or any protests.

That is the part that needs to get focused on, while also continuing pressuring everyone involved until the issue is unavoidable and again, they back down or admit what they are.

And it needs to get stressed over and over again to Republicans who love the military or are in the military--this will get soldiers killed. This is a breach of National Security and it was done on purpose.

These are deeply evil people but this groupchat o'death was done deliberately because Signal will delete their messages.

Tulsi Gabbard will get US soldiers killed. Drunk-ass Pete Hegseth will get US soldiers killed. J.D. Vance will get US soldiers killed. That person in the chat who was *in Russia* will get US soldiers killed.

Regular soldiers who even slightly might breach operational security are punished, even if it was an accident.

You want everyday Republicans and military personnel to get mad about this? Say that. Say all of that. And remember that it's all to "expand" US (Russian) interests and appear strong in true fascist style.

And every Republican and Democratic Senator who voted to confirm these people should not be forgotten either.

I am not kidding or exaggerating when I say that my greatest source of hope for the US right now is angry Republicans at town halls. Democrats and liberals were already angry and clearly that wasn't enough; disaffected and angry conservatives can be what will push us past this.

It’s dumb as hell that the markets didn’t realize trump was serious about this stuff, but even dumber that congress could bring this insane act of economic seppuku that has no significant constituency to a screeching halt *tomorrow*, and yet it seems utterly fanciful to hope that they will act

I do think there's a thing we need to address about how often Trump voters / conservatives are treated as something out in the "real world" that people are avoiding, and liberals / leftists are framed as Overly Online. It's a thing a lot of people further somewhat unconsciously in a lot of left-wing political Internet spaces.

First off, this could not be less true right now. The current right wing quite literally got this way by being way too online! Even putting aside the infinite discussions about how Gamergate and 4chan created the modern alt-right. JD Vance and Elon Musk are way more out of touch with how niche their opinions actually are than your average campus activist. I mean, there literally are more people in the U.S. who agree with campus protesters about Gaza, massive numbers more, than agree with many of the things that Vance and Musk believe. And those guys are unaware of how weird they are because they spend all their time in Internet echo chambers, in Musk's case one he literally built to be that. The average Tumblr user is far more likely to be exposed regularly to political views they strongly disagree with than these people are when they log on. Second, I've talked about how political opinions are not evenly spread around the country. It is not that the U.S. is 50/50 liberals/conservatives everywhere you go. A lot of Democratic voters are concentrated in places full of other Democrats. If I did want to seek out Trump supporters to talk to, I am significantly more likely to find them online than I am by leaving my house in Baltimore. Third, and perhaps most concerning - I can't be the only one who sees in this an echo of "right-wing America is the Real America and the liberal areas are full of elites who are out of touch!" in this rhetoric, right? Again, I don't think people are doing it intentionally. It's an example of how deeply right-wing political narratives have seeded into people's brains that this comes up so much on left-leaning corners of the Internet.

But we must, must strenuously reject rhetoric suggesting that conservatism is more authentic, salt-of-the-earth than either liberalism or leftism. Starting with that it's deeply racist, for reasons I hope I don't have to explain. Second, because it's just not true. Third, it distracts from how left-wing policies help everyone, and conservatives can only maintain their power by lying through a massive propaganda network of TV and Internet.

Being an evil doppelganger has to be so fucked up like imagine meeting a better version of yourself. Some chain of events going differently that led to "you" being a better person in a way you can never achieve. Personally I'd have no other option but to try and kill them

It's always "oh no my evil clone or twin or whatever is trying to kill me" and never How is my evil clone? Says a lot about society

Me, crashing the fuck out: you think you're better than me? You think you're fucking better than me???

My good clone, dodging a glass: I mean like objectively yeah

tl:dr - cutie marks are both nurture, nature and up to the interpretation of whoever has them.

the interesting thing about cutie marks is that most of the time they are connected to the name of the pony- and because they are given a name before they get their cutie mark, it can mean that the logic of them is based on determinism! (meaning that the fate of a pony is decided before they are born)

but its more complicated then that- there are family related cutie marks (the apple family) and cutie marks that have nothing to do with the ponies name (pinkie pie and balloons? scootalo and a wing?)

apart from that, cutie marks are generally very abstract- how does rarity know her three diamonds have to do with fashion, and not just finding gemstones? or pinkie pie's balloons- what if her special talent is just blowing balloons or making them?

from the episode trouble shoes, the cutie mark crusaders have to help trouble shoes redefine his cutie mark and understand it in order to help him reach his full potential. from this we can infer that cutie marks are very much to the interpretation of those who get them.

but why so many have to do with the ponies name? I think that the ponies interpretation of their cutie mark is heavily influenced by their view on the world, and the way they are named probably points to the way they were raised- apple jack grew up farming apples and learning the value of family, and therefore got an apple cutie mark.

but that's not true in all cases- pinkie pies cutie mark and interpretation of it is directly opposed to the way she was brought up, but it also does not align with her name.

to conclude- cutie marks are formed by the personality and talents of the ponies reviling themselves, but its up to the pony to decide what the cutie mark means to them. what they decide is heavily linked to their upbringing and by association to their names well.

Cutie Marks would make life so much easier. Instead of stressing about whether what you're doing with your life is right you just try a bunch of random shit until you get an ass tattoo that shows what you're best at

okay it’s come to my attention that absolutely NONE OF YOU know ANYTHING about how cutie marks work. let me say this simply. a cutie mark isn’t a job being assigned, it’s a special TALENT OR SKILL that the pony enjoys. Most of the time it has a directly transferable job for that skill, like if you enjoy baking and are super good at it WOW! baker. If you are really good at writing and telling stories, author. However, there are some cutie marks that could go multiple ways.

twilight sparkle has exceptional magic ability, so she became a scholar, but she could really do anything that required a good magic skill. same with rainbow dash, her weather controlling job isn’t directly linked to her cutie mark, but it does fit the bill for the job.

i was posed the question of what would a murderer pony’s cutie mark be and wouldn’t everyone know. NO. if somehow murder were to be a special skill, the cutie mark might be something like a knife or a shovel. other ponies might just assume you’re good at cooking or gardening. now with cutie marks like apple jacks, their family has a ‘green thumb’ kind of deal so obviously the cutie mark would be hereditary.

so, the reason i made this post. walter white pony’s cutie mark would NOT be blue crystals. it would be a CHEMISTRY FLASK.

Actually that no punctuation plot hole ooc wattpad fanfic written by that 12 year old will ALWAYS be better than character ai. And I love that 12 year old btw

I want someone to make one of these new sterile teen gay romance shows on Netflix but halfway through they pull a Doki Doki Literature Club and it turns into a fucked up fourth wall breaking psychological thriller that deconstructs the heteronormative and middle class ideals of the genre

If you dont like horror then watch the normal cutesy netflix gay shows ???

the phrase that's ruined every media ever

doki doki literature club but it's about a witch in the alps looking for a lost cat

Doki doki literature club but it's a dating sim where you write poems
