A little idea I had for a cute bad batch scenario once more based on the discussion I had earlier with @here-comes-the-moose

Imagine this cute scenario where once Emerie and the kids are in hyperspace she comes to check on the kids and takes Baryn from Sami for a bit and she just straight up conks out on either Jax or Eva

And when I mean out, I mean she was OUT

They actually thought she was ill till they heard her snoring

I don't think she conks out on Eva or Jax.

Yeah but this is on the shuttle Emerie takes them to Pabu on, meanwhile Echo and Omega are still freeing the other prisoners

True. I had the thought that once they've all reunited on the way to Pabu, Sami is awoken long enough to snuggle against Omega before falling asleep again.

A little headcannon of mine based on a conversation I had with @here-comes-the-moose

What if the reason Sami is so quiet compared to Jax and Eva is because she's so much more tired compared to them

Throughout her time on the show Sami is the one responsible for looking after Baryn who's a literal toddler, bear in mind Sami is barely 8/9 years old

Now that task is tiring enough for adults, just imagine how tiring it would be for a young child in an environment like Tantiss

This headcanon actually broke me when you told me this I just sat in silence for a bit because it made me so sad.

What if a contributing factor to this is, due to her blood constantly being drawn and most likely only being provided with the most minimal of nutrients, she’s also become anemic.

Because speaking from personal experience, your energy can become so depleted so easily. You need naps in the middle of the day. even simple things become exhausting. And when you’re regularly losing blood, *cough* in in my experience it’s because of heavy periods but in this case, the droids are taking samples what, two times a day? Your iron is stored in your red blood cells and my guess is that she is losing them faster than her body can replenish them.

Conclusion, lower energy levels, not very engaged during interactions and, pretty much all the time, tired

One quick thing to note for this: I think Jax is closer in age to Omega than he is to Sami or Eva. (Listen to his voice and try to tell me that his voice isn't cracking)

It woudn't surprise me if a combination of lack of sleep and anemia is affecting Sami. I checked the Vault scenes from Episodes 13 and 14 of Season 3 and noticed Eva seemed a bit ill too, similar to Sami.

This could make sense if Eva is showing signs of Anemia too.

Sami's is made worse by her lack of sleep due to having to take care of Bayrn.

I then went back and checked Episode 10 of Season 3.

And, based on what I've seen, all of them have their blood drawn from the droid's left hand. And that only Bayrn's has the smaller needle.

This means that Eva and Sami have less blood in their bodies than Jax and Omega. If the full needle is being used, then Sami and Eva are having more of their blood extracted as a percentage than Jax or Omega.

This means they'd be more affected by the blood loss, and therefore develop Anemia faster.

It's also possibly true that Sami was the first of the kids to be taken. If that is true, then she's been having her blood taken the longest.

Every writer has that one story that they don't even intend to write down anymore, but that is forever stuck in their brain.
