Daily reminder: Transphobia actively contributes to sexism. If you don’t fit the beauty standard and are seen as masculine in any way shape or form, you are seen as transgender and as a “problem”

I think it's incredibly important here to not overlook the fact that she is a Black woman. Transphobia, racism, and sexism overlap significantly because of the incredibly eurocentric beauty standards women are judged on.

So JKR is anti asexual now to

Aphobia is and always has been TERF-adjacent. There’s a reason why some TERFs joke about how aphobia was their gateway to being a TERF and it’s really not surprising because aphobes use very similar arguments to TERFs. “[x] people don’t need access to queer resources and protections because they aren’t really queer” or “[x] people are actually predators hiding behind labels in wait to attack cis women” or “[x] identity doesn’t make sense to me therefore it doesn’t exist”

the thing about being nonbinary is that you really do start to forget that other people have such strict walls around what is and isn’t allowed for genders. i thought we all agreed that we made that up. could you climb out of the cave real quick and feel the sunshine for a minute.

Lol, y'aint wrong.

Some folks don't like the confrontation of their preconceived demarcations. It makes them feel all... squicky

Thought you were a straight male and now you just discovered the person you were crushing on was trans or a crossdressing dude?

You thought you might look pretty good in that purple shirt, but you just watched your dudebros drag another guy for wearing "girlie" colors?

You want to wear a kilt - because it's masculine and free, ofc - but you don't want to be misconstrued as wearing a skirt?

To clarify: there's nothing inherently wrong with any of the above, but for many folks out there, each of these scenarios introduces a measure of grey area, a liminal space in the conceptions of gender and sexuality, that can cause self-correcting psychosocial stress in individuals coming from backgrounds with reinforced binaries and roles. It's not inherent to the individuals, but is a product of significant social narratives and conditioning, which starts in early childhood

If you tell someone to "look at me when I'm talking to you", I instantly assume you're a bully toward autistic people, because you are.

Unless they're actively focused on something else, you can't accurately assume someone isn't listening just because of where they're looking.

It's not a sign of "disrespect" to not make eye contact. And if you were taught that it is, unlearn it.

I feel this dichotomy intimately every time I (AuDHD) tell my son (very ADHD) to look at me when I'm talking to him or when he's talking to me.

However, as you point out, in the former situation his attention is on every shiny, moving, or interesting thing with a tested track record of plummeting recall when distracted.

The latter is merely my auditory processing being unable to keep up with his vocal fluctuations as the direction, volume, speed, and cadence fluctuates with every move as he gets distracted and physically wanders while trying to meander his way to the point he was trying to make

ngl the amount of times im reading breakdowns for the examination of conscience and seeing 'have i knowingly mutilated my body' is making me feel a little sick

anyways, shout out to Christians who self harm, be it small or large, often or rarely, with blades or fire or anything.

shout out to Christians with eating disorders. with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorders, EDNOS, and anything else that might hurt your relationship with yourself and food.

shout out to Christians with body dysmorphia and poor body image or sense of self.

shout out to mentally ill Christians, be it depression, or psychosis, or anxiety, or anything

shout out to us who struggle, who are suicidal, who have attempted or want to attempt.

shout out to all of us. our existence and our struggle is not sinful.

i hate to be that person that asks for rbs, but of all the posts on my blog, this should be the one you reblog. being mentally ill and christian is so isolating. it might not seem like much, but sometimes a little bit of solidarity— of not feeling alone— can make all the difference

Facts.

And as both a still-believing exvangelical and a healthcare provider, there are so many toxic narratives pertaining thereunto

You are not sinning by having mental health problems

You do not lack faith

You did not fail to claim and speak into existence your good health

This is not God's punishment

Seeking counseling or medications does not mean you doubt God's power

Trusting in God does not mean refusing medications or counseling

You are not obligated to seek counseling only from your pastor or those they have appointed

Lack of instantaneous healing is not a sign of a lack of favor

You cannot tithe your way out of mental health

Your trauma and struggles are real and valid

Today I was chatting with two guys and mentioned I was aroace. It went a little something like this.

A: wtf is that

B: it means she’s not attracted to people in that way

A: bro you can’t just not pick a side, that’s crazy

B: nah, it just means she’s spectator mode

A: OHHH IT MAKES SENSE NOW

I have never felt more validated or laughed so hard

I've always thought Margarita would be a beautiful name for a little girl

And her beautiful sister Cosmopolitan

naming my daughter Rum &

hold on post canceled why the fuck did my keyboard recommend this emoji to me

Rum & The Eyeless One

Be at peace. It is the lesser of its brothers. It behooves none to witness that whom is summoned by ginever

shakespeare wasn't lying that tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow can creep in this petty pace from day to day

neither was Smash Mouth. the years start coming and they don't stop coming

Time really does keep on slippin slippin slippin into the future

And all our lives we've been waiting for and praying for that one day

Something I need to be reminded of often. Yes, I'm very lazy and also have executive problems up the wazoo (the difference? laziness is fun), but the cultural expectation of being productive every waking moment isn't healthy either. And the business of feeding ourselves is especially fraught these days.

This is the same topic and screenshot that gave some of my chudliest chud haters such a meltdown after I posted it myself once, they raged at me for days and one by one dropped off of Tumblr forever. This subject kills idiots.

Cooking every single day is expensive, time-consuming, and hard. Planning out what you’re going to make for the next week for dinner alone, driving to the grocery store and buying the food, needing to find a spot for it all in your tiny little house, cooking the food, eating the food, putting the leftover food away, washing the pots and pans used AND the dishes you ate it with all takes hours of work. Even stay-at-home folks who have partners who don’t need them to work in this economy have struggled with cooking every day as well, there’s been article after article in the 50’s and 60’s about how to cook quickly and efficiently. The dishwasher became a commonplace household appliance between the 50s and the 70s to improve the time and effort one has to put in for one of the steps in cooking.

So with this in mind, expecting a single person that works multiple jobs in order to stay afloat to also cook every single day is insane. Same thing for working class families. The fact is that most families need both parties to work a job, especially if they have kids. It would be GREAT if there was a healthier option than fast food that fulfilled the same purpose, but folks are taking what they can get.

I’m watching Splash (1984) which is a romcom about a guy who falls in love with a mermaid, and when she chooses a human name she chooses Madison and guy says “that’s not a real name, but alright” which seems to imply that Madison was not a name until at least the 80’s and all girls named Madison are actually named after the mermaid. thought you should know

I think...you might be right

what the fuck

why is this post completely broken in every way imaginable

Broken notes… deactivated account… removed image….

Finally, we have them all.

In addition: OP’s name is just… gone. No “[insert username]-deactivated[insert a bunch of numbers]” as is the standard for deactivated blogs.

Just the world “deactivated.” Look upon their post, ye mighty, and despair.

It’ll be almost impossible to find this post unless it wanders across your dash.
