Hey there, friend 🌻 You can call me Light or Lightwise ✨ This is my little corner of Tumblr mostly dedicated to Star Wars (especially the Bad Batch, clone boys, Ahsoka, and Obi-Wan). I am a photographer and writer in my early thirties who spent her childhood telling stories to herself while riding her bike in circles around her driveway. Little did I know at the time that would be considered fan fiction and that however many years later I would find myself nerding out in the Star Wars fandom and loving every second of it ✨

I write a lot of in-depth analyses and musings, which are tagged with #somelightramblings (for a touch of irony, because they are usually anything but light or short :D).

My image edits are tagged with #somelightedits

My fics/writings are tagged with #lightwisewrites

My fic recommendations are tagged with #somelightreading

I currently do not take fic requests but you can find my writing (a mix of one-shots and long-form WIPs) on here as well as on AO3.

Reblogs and comments are always appreciated 🤗 and feel free to use my edits for headers or PFPs with credit!

This blog contains both SFW and NSFW content, so minors DNI, 18+ only please and thank you 👀

A regularly-scheduled reminder, shared with the utmost warmth and love, that the best way to support writers and artists on Tumblr is the reblog function. 🥰

Add comments in the reblog or not. Add tags or not. Any reblog, empty or full, is appreciated and the most appreciated way to encourage us as we work to create lovely stuff for you to enjoy! ❤️

The way the snow vulture is vicious, a harbinger of death, but also simultaneously represents survival, freedom, and inevitability, and the way it follows Crosshair all way through the episode and circles him and Mayday as he reaches his breaking point and begins internalize the futility of being a clone in the service of the empire and then is directly identified with him in the moment he takes back his agency…just…thinking about that snow vulture.

As soon as he called the vultures vicious things that knew how to survive I was like "oh okay so like Crosshair" and then the whole thing came full circle in the end with the rock wings and I'm just *bawls all over again*

Crosshair gets an ice vulture tattoo to symbolize his full reclamation of his own autonomy when?

I love how it’s all the things have been jumbled around inside Crosshair this whole time. He’s mean, alone, keeps himself at a distance, he survives, he persists, he never had a choice in how the war was going to end or how the clones were going to be used, and he’s so desperate for freedom and control over his own life that he’s never been able to square himself with the fact that he ever lost it or that he really never had it in the first place.

But the other thing I love about the whole ice vulture symbolism deal is this: How many times have we seen Crosshair watch the Marauder fly away? How many times has he been stuck on the ground and watched as a ship that could take him to freedom disappears into the distance, either because they can’t take him or because he can’t or wont go? Flanking him on either side with those “wings” in the moment he grabs hold of his autonomy is just so thematically cool on so many levels.

the biggest surprise about this andor s2 campaign has been how many RIDE OR DIE krennic fans have crawled out of the woodworks. that’s your man???? in front of god & brasso?

i wouldn't say i'm a "ride or die" fan but i am ridiculously excited to see Krennic on-screen again???? more than any other character????? 🤷‍♀️ or am i just excited for the Return of the Cape

I forgot about “In front of God and Brasso??” I’m going to start saying that every time I scroll through the news now 🫠

*walks through the door with something new on her arm*

Is that what I think it is?

Did the artist observe proper safety protocols? I would hardly call their local establishment a sterile environment.

"Death to the Emperor" seems like a lot of words for a first tattoo. Maybe wear long sleeves if you travel off world.

You alright, Hunter? You don't look so good.

Breathe, buddy, breathe.

Inhale 2, 3, 4…

Exhale 2, 3, 4, 5, 6…

biggest reason i make so many flop posts on here is because everything i do reeks of the desperation to make a popular tumblr post. this is deliberate, because it is what protects me from ACTUALLY making a popular tumblr post. so long as i crave it, tumblr fame will never find me. it is only when i turn away, and accept my fate of obscurity, that people will lay their eyes upon me. and it WILL be because i tripped and fell on my stupid face while i was turning

time for people to do the funniest thing ever

matt just fired half the remaining tumblr support staff lmao

from my sources adjacent to tumblr--from which i can spread rumors and insider information freely because i dont give a fuck about ever working in the tech sector--im hearing this round of firings was focused on purging the senior staff, and not just from support but from the entire remaining tumblr workforce. i'm hearing there are about 25 people left.

This is important, people. Please don't scroll past this one.

While I don't think that Tumblr is about to shut down anytime soon, as a fandom old who lost my community and my people when the fandom diaspora happened from LiveJournal, I want to urge that you do something NOW:

  • Get your backup account(s) elsewhere NOW
  • Let your moots know your username(s) at those places NOW
  • Follow your moots at their places NOW

I mean this with all my heart. Get this done now. Get set up and find your people now. Tumblr is the home of fandom now, just as LiveJournal was the home of fandom way back. And you could end up losing your fandom home just as easily and quickly as us old LJ people did way back then.

It's a horrible feeling, and most old LJ users still mourn the loss of it to this day.

The rest of this gets a bit long, so it needs to go behind a cut, but please take a moment out of your scrolling to read it.

Comparing Acolyte vs. Skeleton Crew - Intro/Themes/Links

Alright guys. Deep breath. Since about the middle of Skeleton Crew airing (SC here on out to save on typing), when it was clear it was going to cement itself as one of the best live action Star Wars made so far, I realized I wanted to pick at why SC was doing so well, and why Acolyte, which premiered just six months prior, failed so miserably.

It's still kind of shocking that one, while it had the largest budget and one of the largest viewing audiences of any Star Wars show so far, failed rather spectacularly in both quality and reception, and the other, with a more modest budget and unfortunately extremely low viewing numbers, managed to be one of the best and most universally praised (by those who did watch it) Star Wars shows ever made.

I also never gave my thoughts around Acolyte in general, so this will be a mix of contrast/compare as well as me writing out my thoughts about each Acolyte episode in the process. You guys have heard me yap a bunch about SC already and you know how much I love it, so I won't be doing a play by play for it but will use it to highlight where Acolyte where wrong.

So first, let's look at what questions are both shows trying to answer, and how (what themes and devices) are they trying to use to answer them. (NOTE: The entirety of both shows will be spoiled in these posts. Obviously 😁. Do not read if you care about that.)

I've gotten through episode 6 in my recap/analysis of Acolyte, and this latest review hits the point where I've figured out the majority of what went wrong with the show and where it faltered/could have been changed, and what things it did well. Check it out here and catch up on my previous reviews above!

Comparing Acolyte vs. Skeleton Crew - Ep 6

I am comparing and contrasting The Acolyte vs. Skeleton Crew episode by episode to figure out where Acolyte fell apart (for me) and failed to live up to its potential. There are three themes that I have pulled out of both shows: the perspectives and viewpoints of their child characters, the power struggle of light vs. dark in the galaxy, and specific viewpoints and opinions about the Jedi Order.

Read my intro post and recaps of Episodes 1 & 2, Episode 3, and Episodes 4 & 5 from both shows first if you haven't already.

The tone of episode 6 in both Acolyte and Skeleton Crew is surprisingly similar, and very different from each show’s other episodes. Both are slow, philosophical, and contemplative, and present choices for how the characters will move forward as they grapple with where they’ve landed and what they’re supposed to do next. They both also feature hidden beach/sand type environments and really beautiful landscape shots. They split the character groupings up and the story switches back and forth between each one. There are three POVs this time in Acolyte–Osha navigating an uncomfortable rescue and philosophical grilling by Qimir, Mae treading an even more uncomfortable reunion with Sol, and Vernestra leading a–dare I say–extremely uncomfortable rescue mission 😁  In Skeleton Crew, the story cuts between the children as they try to get back to their ship, and Jod (with SM-33) as he is captured by his old pirate crew while trying to escape with Rennod’s treasure.

For Acolyte, this is the episode where things truly split open for me between excellent, mediocre, and absolutely atrocious all being contained in the same show, and the balance of those efforts unfortunately shifting firmly into “this is falling apart” territory, right as the story should have been coming together. Contrasting with Skeleton Crew, where the story kept tracking forward in a very cohesive and satisfying way and started paying off the character development that had been set up in each episode prior.

Star Wars is at its best when it’s showing an intimate, emotional discussion between two characters where they really dig into each others thoughts, feelings, and motivations. A cross between a monologue and a dialogue with the goal of unlocking the depth behind each person’s actions and choices, which often changes the trajectory of them going forward.

(Qimir and Osha, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, Obi-Wan and Anakin, Anakin and Ahsoka, Obi-Wan and Satine, Rex and Cody, Rex and Fives, Maul and Ahsoka, Rex and Ahsoka, Hunter and Crosshair, Hunter and Omega, Omega and Tech, Omega and Crosshair, Mon and Tay, Luthen and Lonni, Cassian and Kino, Cassian and Brasso, Cassian and Maarva, Cassian and Jyn, Kanan and Ezra, Zeb and Kallus, Kanan and Hera, Luke and Obi-Wan, Luke and Yoda, Leia and Han, Luke and Vader, Din and Mayfeld, Din and Ahsoka, Din and Bo, Boba and Fennec, Ahsoka and Huyang, Rey and Luke, Rey and Ben, etc etc etc).

Yeah, I think you get the picture. Fight me about it if you want 🤣
