Story Index for easy reference

Index for all of the stories I post on tumblr. I don't post in chronological order, but I'm trying to keep the index in order in case anyone wants to read them that way (can't promise it's exactly right, especially with some of the side character stuff).

Because Tumblr keeps eating my posts, this is the best place to find each story.

Old Gods (con't) - guess you'll have to check the order in AO3 now, 'cause I can't update the original anymore.

Friends and Family #15 (Curufin, Celegorm, Caranthir, Maedhros, Maglor, Nerdanel, Fëanor)

Silm ABO au

At the Shores of Cuivienen, part 1 (Olwë, Elwë), part 2 (Finwë)

Bargain Brand Glorestor

On the Road To Eregion (Camnir, Vorohil, Daemor, Rian, Elrond, Galadriel)

Things that are currently oneshots

Glorfindel--but make him bloodthirsty (Glorfindel, Elrond, Erenion)

lol guess what dumbass forgot that when you split a fic into separate pieces for posting you have to renumber the chapters in your writing-doc if you want the chapter numbers to match-up?

Yeah. So uh, sorry to anyone to whom I've said anything like "oh you're going to love chapter thirty-nine!" or "I can't wait for you to read chapter twenty-five!" or whatever.

I was lying.

But I didn't mean to!

Word Find WIP Meme

Tagged by @lordgrimwing to find some words in my WIPs and it looks like I'm going to do poorly on this one...

The rules: I've been assigned four words to find in my WIPs, and I assign four new words for anyone I tag. The words assigned to me are Oil, Horse, Shuffle, and Black

Oil: had to cheat slightly on this one and go with 'oiled' because 'oil' alone appears only in a published chapter of my current project. Where Mithlond favored rounded arches, Avallónë seems to prefer delicate points.  The eaves here hang farther over the street.  The buildings have few windows, and most windows that do exist have no glass.  Some hold what appears to be oiled paper, but others have only wooden shutters.  And all of those wooden shutters have been lacquered blue or green and trimmed with silver.  In fact, everywhere he looks, wooden doorframes and wooden beams and wooden benches and wooden scrollwork have all been lacquered blue or green with silver caps.  All of the city is the color of the sea and the sand.  Silver and white.  Dusty gray and blue-green.

It does not feel like home.

Horse: does not appear in any unpublished portion of any WIP.

Shuffle: does not appear in any WIP.

Black: okay this one I can do! Annatar breathes again before replying.  “And others.  Who could not listen to reason.  But there they built two great Lamps with which to illuminate the land, and they asked me to kindle a fire for their use.  So I did.  I called up a fire of my very being: as white and pure and blazing as the world had ever seen, and would never see again.  I gave it all.  And when I lay utterly depleted in a circle of rock so burnt it had turned to a crater of black glass, Varda took my fire.  She took it for her own, and called it hallowed by Manwë’s hand, and herself placed it within the vessels of those Lamps.  My fire.  A part of my immortal spirit, severed from the rest.  Taken.”

Word Find WIP Meme

Tagged by @thescrapwitch, which I am very thankful for because this looks fun, but also I am becoming suspicious that you're just trying to get more peeks at the Old Gods WIP since it's taking so long. (but of course, who wouldn't when I write like a snail?)

The rules: I've been assigned four words to find in my WIPs, and I assign four new words for anyone I tag.

I'm looking for music, shadow, flower, and sword. (none of them are in my OG wip, so I must go further afield)

Music

[I kid you not, I can't fin this in any WIP]

Shadow

“Look, just come up and we’ll work this out. I’ll pull you out if I have to but I won’t be inclined to deal with you kindly if you make me do that.” He glared down into the depths. If the unwelcome visitor was an elf, they should be able to see his expression just fine and he wanted them to know he was serious. A moment passed, then, “You might have to,” whispered softly up to him. “What?” He squinted into the black hole. More sliding and shuffling, and now he could see something moving below him. “I fell,” the shadow said hesitantly. “I can’t get up.”

Flower

“Do you have a bathing room?” Erestor asked over Elrond’s shoulder. They had to walk in single file, the hall was so narrow. The girl looked over her shoulder. “Not so much a room, but we’ve a bath near the stable. The water’s pumped up from a hot spring. No extra fee to use it, but for just half a copper, my father can wash and style your hair. Or cut, if you want,” she added as an afterthought, looking at Elrond. “We have flower oils from the east that none of the salons around here have.”  “Thanks for letting us know,” Elrond said before Erestor could bluntly reject the sales pitch.

Sword

The orcs scatter as Glorfindel turns Asfaloth about for another pass. Black blood streaks his sword and the stallion’s hide. There is red blood, too, streaming down Asfaloth’s right foreleg from a gash on his chest.

Enjoy the smattering of random WIPs.

I shall tag @hellofeanor, @runawaymun, @tethysresort, and @littleoldrachel (always an open invite to anyone else, too)

Look for the words Horse, Oil, Shuffle, and Black.

word find wip meme

Thank you @tathrin for tagging me!

how this works: I search for the words previously assigned to me in WIPs and then choose four words for you to search in your WIP(s)

I was assigned: star, reach, gleam, bow

Star

Along with a living father and a dead grandfather, Tyelpë had uncles. Many uncles. Six of them, each as different from each other as could be, all united by the eight-pointed star they wore on their clothing like a brand. They took turns visiting him, ruffling his hair or bringing him treats or singing his nightmares away, always hesitating when answering one of his many questions. It did not make sense, the depth of their love and the fear when they looked at him, as though waiting for a blow. Had he been that horrible of a child, to make them flinch every time he tried to recall a piece of his lost past?

Reach

Do not fucking start with me, thought Maglor. He swallowed the words back, put his temper out of reach, and made himself smile. “You shall have to bear it regardless.”

Gleam

Our family, running and singing and laughing and bickering. Elrond shone around them, smiling bright next to Celebrian, playing hide-and-seek with his children. Forever, we thought. We shall stay like this forever, for are our walls not strong and our windows gleaming? Are gardens full of flowers and our beds warm? We were young then. We did not know that a wall could crumble, a window shatter beyond repair, that weeds could choke out what once was beautiful. We did not realize the shadows that lurked beyond our threshold and how sharp its claws could be.

Bow (I could only find it as part of rainbow)

So, on the cold and windy last day of the year, Fëanor bundled up his crab son for a small adventure. Crabs were, to Fëanor’s knowledge, not made for winter. Cold weather made them bury themselves beneath the sand, dreaming of warmth. Luckily, Maglor was not a regular crab and had more resistance to the drop in temperature. Caranthir even knit him a sort of sweater, with the rainbow striped yarn covering the bulk of his shell and tiny holes cut out for his eyestocks and claws and little legs.

This was fun! Its funny that each of these came from different WIPs (or maybe that's a sign that I have too many WIPs).

The four words I assign to you are: music, shadow, flower, and sword

No pressure of course!

Last Line Tag Game

Rules: Post the last line you wrote, then tag as many people as there are words.

Jumping in because @bifuriouswaterbender's last line was just darling, so I felt moved to participate...although I'm cheating a little: technically only half of this line is new, but it is the last thing I wrote. I had to add onto it because I changed the chapter-break positioning, which necessitated providing more of a segue framework to this sentence.

They pressed on ever deeper into Mirkwood, and with each step, Frodo felt ever more as though he walked through a land formed entirely of shadows, a moonless night that did not end.

So I'm only tagging people for the half of the sentence that is actually new (the rest was written ages ago) that's fair, right?

Here, have a part from an Elwing/Earendil/Celebrimbor fic that I'll likely never finish. Earendil and Celebrimbor.

“Cousin,” he called him, because that was the word his mother used when she told him fond stories from her own childhood. Maybe there was a better word for them, but then perhaps not. He’d heard of no other families like his great-grandfather’s among the elves. So, “Cousin,” he said, gentle now, fingers brushing his chin, “please. Let me see.” Celebrimbor let him push his head up and brush the hair from his face with a careful finger. Bruises shadowed his left eye and cheek around the split skin. Beneath that, his eyes looked tired, exhausted in the way only elven eyes could beneath their own light. He was not well. “Who did this?” Celebrimbor didn’t meet his gaze. “It was just a misunderstanding.” “A misunderstanding?” Eärendil repeated with disbelief. “That left you bloodied, broken, and hiding in my ship?” A small smile. A deflection. “I didn’t know it was yours.”

thinking about maglor becoming an ever-mourning shadow-person, “mist-haunting, dropping vain tears in the thankless sea,” a fate that fëanor so harshly condemned and so badly wanted to avoid 🙂🙂🙂

Debating if Magor would realize that of if he'd be too far gone by then.

Consider him finally making the connection about thirty years in (he's processing things a little slow y'know).
