my hottest take

Counter point, those machines can make me a peach sprite.

guys did you know the tech in that nefangled machine revolutionized preemie healthcare

yeah the guy who invented them made incredibly precise infusion pumps (as opposed to gravity fed ivs) which not only meant they could give medications to teeny tiny babies safely, it's also used for insulin pumps and portable dialysis machines. the key element is that it's a peristaltic pump so the liquid stays in sterile tubing for safety

(unholy drink cloaca uses it to dispense precise amounts of flavored sugar syrup)

I went to get a peanut butter shake and the the guys next to me in line were trying to order from the touch screen

And the one guy says to his friend "get me that one, the Fizzybubbaleh"

I look over at the screen

It says "frozen raspberry"

Close enough.

Objectively

the best

of the

Star Trek

movies.

The best bit of the โ€œnuclear wesselsโ€ scene, is that Nichelle Nichols and Walter Koenig literally went out and asked passerby. Not extras; genuine strangers on the street.

I want to emphasize: in 1986, during the Cold War, they had a man with a Russian accent thick enough to walk on wander the streets asking random people about nuclear technology. Iโ€™m amazed that people were (vaguely) helpful.

A WHOLESOME AND INSANE MOVIE :D

"This issue isn't 'complex', the only reason it hasn't been solved is because some people don't want it solved" like, yeah, bro, how to get everybody on the same page about what the problem is and how best to fix it is, in fact, one of the complexities in question. A lot of stuff is simple if you skip that step, but the trick is that you can't.
