the actual reason I consume mediocre media is because I have bad taste. the deeper secret pretentious reason is because I think there’s something very revealing about bad media that you don’t get with good media. when you watch a poorly executed plot point unfold, you see the machinery behind it. you see the gap between what’s actually on screen and the true goal the author is striving for. if it’s particularly awful, you can even measure just how poorly mismatched the author’s skills are with the story they’re trying to tell you. watching a poorly executed narrative play out feels like you’re discovering something, because you see all the wiring and guts underneath that better authors hide from you, in the same way that movies hide boom mics and books make you forget you’re turning the pages. if a story is good and executed well you just see the story. but I want to see the guts and wires!

Then they'd walk out of the courtroom and Wilson would chew him out which House ignores. Cue 3 days layer when Wilson says House needs to clear up they lied about being gay to get him off (ha) and they're not actually dating because he is NOT getting any dates like this. House would walk into the hospital cafeteria and yell "ATTENTION EVERYONE. Doctor Wilson is not my boyfriend." Wilson would nod for 2 seconds before House follows up with "because we're engaged!" and Wilson can't even be mad because why did he think for 2 seconds that House would make it easy for him

House would try to use this as an opportunity to demand less clinic hours (think of it as a wedding gift) which he does not get because Cuddy knows exactly what's going on and she thinks it's hilarious but she needs his ass working

If you are trying to overcome a fear of spiders I can’t recommend this TikTok enough. They never post jump scares and always put warnings if a spider moves fast in a video. All of the videos are super cute and portray the spiders in a very positive and non threatening manner. 11/10 would recommend.

the argument with bacon where derap is just flat out denying that zam wanted to die is so fascinating. like the disrespectful thing in derap's mind isn't "acting blasé about zam's suicidal tendencies," which would at least make sense, it is "implying zam wants to die, at all." which is true. you know that this is true, because you talked to her about it, the other day? you would rather call it a stupid mistake than acknowledge the truth to baconnwaffles? who is arguing FOR zam's competence? against you, because you're trying so hard to avoid acknowledging something you know to be true that you are implicitly calling her stupid? in the same breath as you get like, Really defensive about her honor as your teammate? the only conclusion i can come to here is like, okay, do you think it's something shameful to discuss? do you think it's wrong, and fucked up, for this to be the truth, so acknowledging it as true feels insulting? ARE you on some level concerned with the fact that bacon treats this as normal, that nobody is doing anything about it, dovetailing with your concerns about the way the server treats zam as a whole—but you don't know how to articulate that? because there is a conflict between zam's agency, which bacon acknowledges, and what you think is best for her, what you want from her? even though your concern is real, she isn't always treated well, how far can that go, if you're doing it too... and what does treating her well MEAN? is it all tangled up; suicide and dying in minecraft and the shame of losing a fight, where if you try to bring this up in conversation, you are going to have to navigate the mess. you are going to have to be the one who brings it from dying in minecraft to self destruction.
