Blog Guide for the Unwary

Individual Characters:   (I mean I have... a LOT of them but these are the four main girls)

C'allie Kyho: a Seeker of the Sun raised tribal-style and believes every “nunh” is a failure, save her father C’kyho. Her life is full, due to her being polyamorous with four spouses and one “side piece,” as well as dealing with a growing collection of children and one fat fuck of a cat.   ~ Carrd, Tag
Annalei d’Latu: a Veena Viera psychopathic murderous bitchbunny extraordinare who lusts after magical mastery, blood, aether, and mint desserts. (Not necessarily in that order.) She’s viciously married, easily angered and quick to violence. So she’s quite the catch! ~  Carrd, Blog, Tag     --Seifer d’Latu (Anna’s IC husband, played by my OOC husband)
Summer Bellmayne: a mystel raised in Il Mheg by the pixies with who makes a very, very comfortable living writing overblown romance novels. Rather like her fae relatives, she’s capricious and cruel and cheerful and friendly.  ~ Carrd, Tag
Esti Kyton: a Seeker of the Sun raised... on the edges of a thriving tribe, she went from the frying pan to the fire when she left home. An aerial acrobat, a barista, a gentle heart, and a wounded soul, she just wants to be at peace. Perhaps one day. ~  Carrd, Tag

Other Subjects:

Rogues’ Gallery Carrd    (Look, I make a lot of alts for Discord RP I might as well have a place to list them, right? This has the ones like Leti-Mao and Pythia and Ilya.)
Angel’s Warrior of Light AU  (I was fine not having a WoL until Endwalker punched me in the face, so now I have Meli Iliakos and her “Scions of the Seventh Noonish” adventuring friends who’ve been fighting alongside her and the ACTUAL Scions since their first encounter with Titan.)
Screenshots    (So, so many screenshots...)
Landscapes    (Eorzean scenery!)
Asks/Replies    (Both the prompt lists and the replies)
OOC Blather    (I promise no quality control for what is here)
Signal Boost    (Usually for others’ events)

I’m Angel! I play FFXIV (Mateus on the Crystal Data Center) and spend a good 90% of my time in the game stuck in GPose. I work graveyard shifts, so I’m not a member of any RP FCs (alas!) and honestly, in game RP is a thing of the past 99% of the time. I’m married to Seifer d’Latu’s player, spend most of my time consuming books, love horror movies and good stories. I promise I only bite my husband, so feel free to wave at me if you see me in game (probably on Anna) or ping me if you just want someone to chat with!

Hi there! Are you a FFXIV roleplayer? Are you looking for more opportunities to meet people/engage in one-on-one scenes and roleplay beyond event spaces? I may just have a solution for you!

To preface: my name is Sea, and I run far too many community projects (no, seriously, someone stop me); most notably my Community Compendium and question drives. Playing in the creative side of the XIV community, but most notably the roleplay community, brings me the most joy, and it's something I want to continue to foster both with this project and the others attached to it.

The meet-cute idea was originally based around this vent post I made regarding the difficulty of people wanting to get into the in-game ffxiv scene. While a lot of my venting was to do with mods/player expectations, the fact it resonated with people made me wonder if there was anything I could do in order to help people find and connect with other roleplayers. Based on an indulgence qotd, I came up with the idea of a meet-cute!

WHAT IS A MEET-CUTE?

  • A meet-cute typically refers to a scene in film/television where people meet for the first time, typically under unusual, humorous or cute circumstances.
  • Having a predetermined first-meet scene between two characters allows players to meet new people and expand their roleplay horizons.

While a meet-cute normally has a romantic subtext that is NOT the focus of this drive, and it is not mandatory or expected for players/characters to be looking for romance in their roleplay (though you absolutely can if you want)! It’s about the opportunity to create fun, first-meet scenarios for characters and their players.

WHY A MEET-CUTE?

  • Creates simple, predetermined scenes based on character hooks/stories and shared roleplay interests between players.
  • Eliminates the fear of an initial reaching out through assured mutual interest in roleplay. You know the person you’re interacting with wants to write!
  • Allows people to roleplay in-game or out depending on their comfort levels; no need to stand in the city or go to a bustling event (unless you want to).
  • The focus of a short, first-meet scenario allows players the ability to set up long-term scenes if they want… or just fun one-offs with lots of different people!

If this is something you may be interested in, I highly recommend you check out this google doc that goes over player expectations and links to the google form. ✨ As this is the first iteration of the meet-cute, rules and information is subject to change at a whim, so I encourage people to also check in with my tag 。・゚゚・ — sea's community meet cute just in case.

Tagging: @iron-sparrow (I know you have enough to do this like four times, get crackin') @ahollowgrave (you too); @nolanel-corbeaux; @cerbaros (YOU can do it as often as I can); @ser-corviknight, @mist-touchedxiv; @luck-and-larceny; @dumb-hat

i know so many people have asked for the s9 neon hair colors to be added for players to use, and i've been on the fence about it, but i've decided that they should add a second aesthetician in solution nine, so it's only unlockable after you get to dawntrail, who can dye your hair those colors.

PROS:

  • maintains immersion
  • makes unlocking them super exciting because you've had to wait so long for it
  • makes use of one of the many empty buildings in s9
  • potential fun new character to complement jandelaine

CONS:

  • people would complain sooooooooooo bad about not being able to do it from level 1
