women "living in a man's world" doesn't just mean living in a world where men are in control, it's living in a world where we are treated as "other" in every aspect. the very idea of misogyny could be erased from society, all sexist idea could be stricken from the world like an amnesia, and within only a few days women would notice that this world is not designed for us.

it's not a difficult idea. if you say we need to update laws and policies that were written with men as the default, most honest people will acknowledge that there needs to be a change. in some cases we should rewrite them to be unisex, sometimes we need provisions for the ways women are unique, and we need to address that even things that had technically been "designed" for women were designed by men who didn't understand our actual needs.

but say this about more tangible designs and processes and these discussions go back to square one. eyes roll and we're called unreasonable for noticing that offices are too cold for us. it's just a smaller part of an all-pervading problem, and it's a sign that our needs are ignored even in the littlest things. what about the fact that cars are designed for men, pharmaceutical are tested on men, and PPE is designed for men? it adds up when women are half the world's population. at best, we are only mildly inconvenienced. at worst, women are killed. and then this is used to prove women are basically strange, weak, inferior men.

fighting for women's equality means re-addressing everything.
