Coats of Arms in Dragon's Dogma

Gransysโ€™ Coat of Arms

Blazon:ย Azure, saltire Argent, a sword in pale proper, point downwards and crowned with a crown proper, enwrapped with a dragon Gules, armed Argent

Description in normal language: Blue background, with a silver diagonal cross, and a crowned sword in the middle pointing downwards with both crown and sword in their normal colours, a red dragon with silver claws entwining the crowned sword.

Notes: There seems to be two commonly-used versions of the coat of arms in the game; one complex, one simple. The above is the description of the complex version of the coat of arms, which can be seen on the knightโ€™s shield.

The colour blue denotes loyalty and truthย which is bullshit, Dragonsbane my assย while the silverย saltire indicates protection and sincerity.ย Basically the legend of Edmun Dragonsbane slaying the dragon is reproduced on this coat of arms. The dragon is shown in a defeated position, while the crowned sword implies that the duke had won his right to rule by combat - or in this case, by slaying the dragon.

Otherwise, dragons symbolise valiant defenders, usually of valuable treasure. The use of a sword implies that the bearer of arms is honourable and just in battle, while a crown indicates royal authority.

The simpler version of the coat of arms is as follows:

Blazon: Azure, saltire Argent, a sword in pale point downwards and crowned Gules, enwrapped with a dragon of the third

Description in normal language: Blue background, with a silver diagonal cross,ย and a red crowned sword in the middle pointing downwards, a red dragon entwining the sword

Notes: This simpler version of the arms appear on the uniforms of Gransysโ€™ soldiers as well as the Gransys flag.

itโ€™s fun that Mormonism is based off pseudo-archeology and Scientology is based off pseudo-psychiatry. By that logic the big American New Religious Movement of the 21st century is gonna be based onโ€ฆ pseudo-computer science?

Tomorrow @ 6pm Eastern, it's time to go back to "WORK", so i can do my "TAXES"

my friends and i have much fun planned (Lethal Company, Different Lethal Company, and Others Too) & some little souvenirs for u also.

dwarf fortress fucks so hard. my current fort has an occasional patron who is an 86 year old owl lady named 'the frozen one' who spent the first couple of years just perching in trees and watching my dwarves. a two headed fire breathing ettin came to lay siege to the place before I had a proper military established, and while I was freaking out trying to lock doors she just. floated down and tore him in half. when I checked her inventory, all she had was a plain brown dress, socks, shoes, and a pair of gloves. she just ripped him down the middle like a phonebook with her bare talons.

later while checking out other visitors I discovered that almost every bard in the fortress had been her apprentice at some point. eventually she came inside to check out the taverns, and now she just sits around watching performances and getting into arguments about them, feeling nothing. I love her so much.
