I'm rebranding and separating from the ACOTAR fandom because it's just gotten boring tbh. The same recycled arguments for a dead series. If you want my thoughts on it, I have long since spelled it out below:

Naked Longing 🖤 This image (and that title, with all the longing yet no one is actually naked, more's the pity) has somehow become emblematic of a project I started ages ago but had to put on hold because life got in the way. This is the year I finally get to move forward with it. I'm so excited :)
The bookish artists on IG got together for an April Fool's joke where everybody had to draw the 'Spiderman upside-down kiss' pose featuring their favourite book characters or OCs. I signed up for playful Kaye and long-suffering Roiben (but he loves it really, even though he's got a sticky nose now 🍭)

I’ve started to notice this trend that hardcore SJM fans HATE The Cruel Prince and DNF it, whereas Cruel Prince fans tend to be critical of SJM’s work (probably because Holly Black is a talented author who actually studies and respects folklore and mythology).
Maybe this is just a me thing, but I definitely feel like I’ve seen so many die-hard ACOTAR fans say they just “didn’t get” Cruel Prince or had to DNF because it was “boring” and “was political fantasy and not romantasy” and that it “had no smut”. Like hello?? It’s a YA book?????
I'm 90% sure that SJM just bastardized Roibens story and gave it to RhySAnd.
Read Modern Faerie Tales and you'll see what I mean.
Like Roiben and RhySAnds story matches so much, the only difference is that SJM removed everything that could be considered "weak" and added the pro Isreal stuff. So, now RhySAnd just looks gross. The difference between respecting the source material and appropriating it. (Both stories are based of Faerie lore, even is SJM doesn't realize it)

Roiben who when commanded to cut off the feet of a troll who was being used as a table for the Unseelie queen, offered to take his place instead. Who, when goaded by the queen and her knights, reacted and caused the death of the small fae, swore to himself to never show them his emotions again.
Lord of the Court of Termites who carries Lutie Loo on his shoulder and does not let anyone disrespect his tiny Faerie friend.

Summary: Tamlin spends the night magically altering his hair and eyes to match his rival's dead lover's preferences, all while silently suffering because Lucien will never love him the way he loved Jesminda. Love is a cruel joke, and Tamlin is the punchline.
