i often think about how ikora is surrounded by former lightbearers. and i often think about how she frets over them, how her own immortality causes her to worry over the mortality of those who once were like her. i think about how eris resists her, how ikora is always chasing her to get her to rest and eris is always pulling away, her work far too important for her to ignore. that eris believes ikora thinks her frail and it grates at her, but ikora has never had such ill intentions in her care. i think about how the same happens with osiris. how she tries to be gentle with him, but becomes overbearing. how she keeps him from his purpose and makes him start to believe she thinks he’s broken. how ikora’s own blame of how she handled savathûn complicates their relationship even further, weakens the trust between them even more. i think about how when zavala loses his light it is her he comes to about learning stasis; about regaining some of his strength, about changing his mind, about accepting who he has become. i think about how practiced she is by that point. how when zavala says don’t go easy on me just because— she must be hearing years of eris, months of osiris and her easy i won’t is a reflection of that. i think about how much she cares, and how often she’s right to do so, but how often that care is received as stifling. that it is both strength and character flaw. i love how ikora loves.
