Okay, darlings. This fandom has managed to drive an author from it and they went out with a nuke. All of their work, gone. So it's time to have a talk. I'd love to think none of you were involved in it, so hopefully this is more a reminder to reblog than to have to apply, but it's time to have a talk.

First off, I'm not going to name the author. Their story is theirs. I'm just going to talk generally.

You DO NOT tell an author to kill themselves (kys) or threaten to harm them or that you'll find them or that they're writing their story wrong. YOU JUST DON'T.

"Well that's how I joke with my friends--" Stop. Authors are not your friends. They are at best acquaintances and more likely strangers. They might be friendly with you. I'm friendly with many of you because I see you often in comments/replies and such. And some of you have become friends. But the average author is not your friend, they are a stranger. And if you're the type of person who would tell a stranger to kill themselves, you need professional help in dealing with something deep inside you and I hope you find it.

Authors are out here writing entertainment and sharing it for free. You respect that and be kind. If you can't be kind, you leave. The back button is right there.

This is not an airport, you do not need to announce your departure. If a fic goes a way that you do not like, you unsubscribe and hit that back button. If it turns too angsty or sappy or violent, back button. If their characterization bothers you, back button. You do not need to tell as stranger providing free effort that you hate what they are producing. This fandom is so damn prolific, there's something out there for you, it doesn't have to be that fic.

Please just be kind. The world is horrible enough right now. And if you can't be kind, back button.

DP x DC but it’s Durarara!!! Inspired:

Danny got his head cut off at some point and is now rolling around Gotham (and other cities) looking for it. He’s stuck in Phantom form cause he for sure can’t turn back into a human with no head, he’d be dead. So now he’s got this whole Black Rider situation where he’s riding through town on his bike and a neon green kitty biker helmet with the cartoon face.

No one knows who this guys is or what he wants, only that he glows and always shows up a hot spots of crime. Any time there is a trade deal about to go down the glowing cyclist shows up, makes chaos, and leaves after. They aren’t sure if he’s trying to make power play moves or if he’s looking for something, but they damn well are going to find out.

Meanwhile Danny is trying to go to every single illegal trade/auction he can get to hoping someone has his head. He’s mainly trying for the supernatural ones but figured maybe the normies got it for some fucked up reason. Also he’d really appreciate if the Justice League and various other heroes would stop trying to corner him like a villain, he can’t really talk right now and he doesn’t think they are going to try playing charades with him to try and explain the situation.

dc Pride is just incredibly funny to me Midnighter and Apollo on the cover of every other issue while Superman and Batman are in the back carrying ally flags, not like DC's headlining gay couple were created to be Intellectually distinct versions of anything else

it's even more wild than that bro, both characters were originally published by a completely different company called Wildstorm, partially as their own original thing and partially as gay parodies of Batman and Superman

the company was eventually ABSORBED by DC and they started publishing stories of the characters themselves as if they were original creations

Okay you're right, that is absolutely hilarious XD

I hope every writer who sees this writes LOADS the next few months. Like freetime opens up, no writers block, the ability to focus, etc etc you're able to write loads & make lots of progress <3

Does anyone have any idea why in the english translation of Inkheart it's The Bluejay when in german he's called the Jay? Or did that just sound too much like a nickname and not enough like a bird? Cuz like

this is pretty but not the bird the Character is named after which would be this:

And I'm wondering wether that really just got changed because Jay sounds too much like a normal name. (also arent Bluejays native to north america? that doesnt matter in the inworld ofc cuz it's fantasy but as a fun little detail/foreshadowing it's mentioned earlier on in Inkspell that Mo would give Meggie apology gifts like a bookmark decorated with jaybird feathers which he'd collect in Elinors garden. In northern italy. Where you would not find bluejays)

I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW

In the Swedish translation it’s the second one (cool name here)

I need to know, does the english translation have this illustration:

Also I could probably talk about the significance of some of the illustrations in the book and why they mean so much. Especially the unicorn one. The same with the cover of the books. I could probably analyze it far more than you should. BUT SERIOUSLY THE COLORS CANT BE AN ACCIDENT. NEITHER CAN THE SMALL PICTURES ON IT BE.

You know, i have no idea wether the english version has the illustrations but please please tell me more about them. You seem to have a lot of thoughts and i'd love to hear them =D

You want to hear my analysis? Amazing. It will include pictures. I would include quotes but I don’t have the books in English. Might still do it myself.

First of all a funny thing that’s mentioned that took 1 or 2 rereads for me to realize (if one of the scenes wasn’t TRAUMATIC (or well I am not traumatized but yk what I mean I hope) I would probably not have noticed it at all. Well let me now explain in too much detail why the covers are very Mo coded.

Anyway. The original trilogy’s covers has 3 different main colors. Red, green and blue. All those colors have at some point in Mo’s life been his favorite color. (In inkspell Meggie as a notebook that Mo had bound for her I think the cover of (or the endpaper idk. Some part of the book) was green and blue, his favorite colors)

In Inkdeath at the castle of the lake (is it called that in English?) Mo thinks about how red used to be his favorite color but now it makes him feel sick because of all the blood he has seen.

What could that mean? Honestly idk but my best guess is that the innocence (them nearly dying, being kidnapped etc etc) of Inkheart, the red book, are gone.

If you have any ideas, agree, or disagree tell me because this is a very serious matter.

Now on to the next part.

In the first one (inkheart) you have a book without anything in the middle. Down to the left there is Gwin on a book. Mo read out Gwin from Inkheart and got the name Silvertounge. In the end of the book he defeated Capricorn with his Silvertounge reading.

2. The “bluejay” In the middle there is a bird that is the type of bird that Bluejay originally was. Who becomes the Bluejay in that book? Mo. In the end of the story he fought as the Bluejay.

3. The Unicorn. Here it is a unicorn coming out of the book. Mo’s sigill as a bookbinder (do you say sigill in that context?) was the head of a unicorn. In the end of the story he once again became the bookbinder.

Let’s continue with the unicorn thing:

Orpheus had written and read the words about the Bluejay. He is obviously in a lot of pain. The Bluejay is hiding from the Adderheads men when Dustfinger finds him. Brianna is threatened by that thing idk the name of that Orpheus had read. Mo decides to once again become Mo.

And then we have this illustration:

The unicorn. Aka the bookbinder. The white Unicorn against a dark background. The light in the darkness. Earlier in the book Orpheus read a unicorn, which was killed. Now Mo became the part of him that was associated with a unicorn and escaped Orpheus power, which probably was what saved him. Those two things were two sides of the same coin but still so vastly different.

In inkspell we have this illustration:

After the chapter that Mo accepted the mask of the Bluejay. That’s why I’m even more convinced it’s not an accident because Bluejay when officially becoming Bluejay and then unicorn when giving it up. Not an accident if you ask me.

I could probably go on even more about this but if I don’t stop now I will never stop.

Am I pointing out things where at least half probably are accidental? Yes. Do I think taht it being an accident actually matters? Nah I like overanalyzing small details

oooh i did notice the green and blue (the paper cover of the notebook is bound with blue and green paper). I havent gotten to the part abt red yet but i think it's interesting that that's the first book. it makes me wonder if there's any specific significance to the order of the other two colours. But the cover illustrations representing Mo's names/identities/aspects is so true! Silvertongue, Bluejay and the Unicorn. I've been missing the Unicorn cause i like that he uses it as his seal and at the point where i am right now it has not come up again since. But it's a great animal to contrast the Bluejay because unicorns stand for innocence and purity and in some stories only virgins or innocent maidens could ride unicorns and all that. I tried finding any interesting symbolism related to jays but no luck (although i feel like Cornelia just likes using bird metaphors. especially corvids. With Mortola being a Magpie and the Fireraisers continuall getting compared to crows) I think the different cover colours also have to do with the main...theme/location? Like, the first is red. Its main antagonist is capricorn who is all about red, there's a lot of fire and ash and such. The second prominently features the wayless woods (or whatever their english name is). and i dont remember enough of the third. But that could be a thing?

BLUE LIKE WATER

And well the only thing that unicorn is actually mentioned to be connected with Mo is it being his seal and he didn’t really get a title as “the unicorn” but it’s in a way the signature of Mo, when he is a bookbinder. So that’s what I base that on

Coming back to this because im rereading Inkdeath and Blue is used SO MUCH to describe the veil between the land of the living and the land of the dead. Dustfinger is swimming in a sea of Blue and the river that the white women wash peoples hearts in and that you look into to appear in your loved one's dreams is blue. So yes, blue like water. But not just because of the castle on the lake

I know the fandom had named Valerie's ghost hunters identity "Red Huntress" (and I fucking love that name, don't get me wrong, it's rad as hell) but I had a thought about a potential other name she might have ended up with.

Specifically I'm imagining Danny giving her a hero name completely by accident.

Like, they're fighting a ghost together. It's low stakes, more just a bit of fun before they go grab a shake at the Nasty Burger or something. Neither of them are on edge or really thinking, this is basically just a quick chore they have to take care of before they can hang out. They've been joking and throwing banter back and forth, all that fun stuff.

And it's so chill and low stakes that Danny, in typical Danny fashion, isn't really thinking.

He's about to do something to show off or make a terrible pun or something and wants to make sure she's paying attention and goes to shout to her.

But uh... he uh... he forgot until he's already got the "Val" part out that she also has a secret identity and at this point watching them fight ghosts is a pass time for the people of Amity Park so they have a pretty big audience. One that includes the news.

So, now panicking, Danny tries to cover the only way he knows how:

He Puns it out.

And so, Amity Park's ghost hunting hero Valkyrie is named.

If we want to double down on Danny's "Hero identity name is just a slight change to his civilian name she could be Valkyrie Red (in place of Valerie Gray) though I think Red Valkyrie flows a little better lol
