Police in Oulu do not suspect a crime in relation to the shooting death of a conscript at the Kainuu Brigade in November.

Police announced on Tuesday that an investigation into the incident had been completed.

A conscript received fatal head injury after being struck by a bullet from his own rifle at a shooting range in Kainuu on 3 November, 2022.

Police announced that the victim had died from his injuries in the hospital a couple of days later.

Police said that no defect was found in his rifle that could have caused the fatal shot.

Authorities said no further information related to the case would be revealed, as cause of death investigations are sealed.

At the time of the incident, police said the conscript's rifle fired for an unknown reason right before the shooting range exercises were about to begin. Authorities also noted then that no one was suspected of a crime.
